If you don't get it working with the rep from your cable company - call back hours later a try another tech - that worked with a modem I got from my neighbor as sometimes the modems when used/ refurbished don't have the old account released from them, it helps if the modem was on the same service provider but still takes time to clear even with a reset on the device. ( sometimes it just never works btw )

For Xfinity you can use their app to activate any modem that is compatabile with their system. Dont need to call in just plug in MAC ID.

I am a fan of Amazon Resale Used Like New, but the big risk you take here is if the modem was never unregistered from the previous owner, you might not be able to use it on your provider. Yes, some let you activate with an app, but others, like with Cox, I believe, you'll be out of luck.

I'd say then return the device. Low risk.

Anyone use this one with Xfinity?

One of the reviews on Amazon states they had issues with Xfinity and they claimed it was not supported, even though Xfinity's own website said it was.

Every internet service I've had I've got a free top-of-the-line modem and I don't have to pay anything it's included. I have a Wi-Fi 6 modem with Xfinity I don't pay for and my mom just got T-Mobile fiber and she got a brand new Wi-Fi 7 included.

I bought this 2 months ago, also in a Like New condition, works well with Xfinity. Haven't had any issues.

I ended up returning mine since Cox took it off their approved list. The bummer is Amazon has to evaluate it at the return center so no 2 - 4 hour refund to my Amazon account like usual.

"No, modem rental with Xfinity is generally not free, costing around $15 monthly for their xFi Gateway, though some introductory promotions might offer it free for a limited time (like 12 months) or include it in specific bundles, but eventually, you'll pay or buy your own. You can avoid the fee by purchasing and using your own compatible DOCSIS 3.1 modem/router, which often saves money in the long run. " - google AI slop

Could be regional or for new plans only, but no charge for Comcast provided modem/router and no discount for using your own equipment.
