I swapped from a 10" compound harbor freight saw to this one, mostly because of space and blade size/price for how often I use it. I've been satisfied.

With larger material a bigger saw may be necessary, but the sliding arm does almost everything a DIY homeowner needs, and for everything else, it just requires some additional turns or follow-up cut with a recip saw or similar after.

Only good for coarse work. Mine has an issue that the direction of sliding is 3 degrees off from the angle of the blade, and there is no adjustment to make them the same. So you can choose to set for the sliding direction or the non-sliding will be off 3 degrees. As long as you do work that doesnt need precision, you are OK

Otherwise I recommend instead the Ryobi 10" slider. Much better made.

Good deal, but if you need the 4amp battery too, I suggest waiting for the HD package to go on sale again for $130

Currently $160 which still isn't bad for "new"

This wouldn't work with a 2amp?

Edit: "This tool is compatible with all RYOBI 18v Li-Ion batteries."

Works and works well might be very different, I don't think I'd try to cut through anything more than pine 2x4 with a 2Ah, and even then it might bog down starting at 2 or 3 bars because those batteries just don't provide a ton of amps (instant power).

It's a 7.25" blade.... Unless you plan to rotate your pieces to cut....
