What the misconception is about wok burners is that you have to have the large BTU burner. No, you don't. You have to have a 100k burners if you are using a 19" diameter wok. The smaller the wok the smaller output the burner needs to be. 50k is adequate for a 14" wok as long as you don't crowd it with too much food at one time. And it will be far superior to what you are getting from your electric range. If you used a 12" properly seasoned carbon steel wok on this it would perform perfectly! Just cook portion sizes appropriate for the wok size and burner output. Calculate btu per square inch to compare.

I have this. Purchased at beginning of the summer for 300. Definitely worth it for home use. For the people asking if the btu is enough, are u turning out a dish every 2 to 3 mins like a restaurant? I have yet to cook with this on full blast

if you like wok cooking, this is a great outdoor wok. its powerful and my fried rice taste like Chinese restaurant fried rice. Paid 279 last year and loved it

I'm like broken record now, but can anyone recommend this but with a burner instead of wok station. Just a pot cooker burner type of set up otherwise I guess I'll buy BBQ with side burner.

newb (well not really new, just not skilled whatsoever lol) wok'er here. I've been using a flat bottomed wok on an electric range so the results won't be as great as compared to gas IIUC. I was doing some research on gas woks, and it seems 50,000 BTU is on the lower side and serious wok cooking usually requires 100,000 BTU? With that said, idk if I could get to that level in the first place

I hear the Powerflamer 160 is the best for a home cook.
I highly doubt a BBQ with a side burner is powerful enough for wok cooking.

I can't personally vouch for this item, but for those that think this isn't powerful enough, how the flame it output is very important too. Most of the outdoor burners that are way more powerful actually suck for wok cooking because they are desined to heat up a large surface area. the flame on this is directed in a small c9ne so better for wok cooking.
