Can anyone share A/B test differences between this and 1st gen for sound quality, comfort, and button responsiveness?

Also, does anyone know if Costco deducts $70 if we return these headphones? I'm thinking about getting these for my son but not sure if he'll like the controls. Thanks!

I've been using the gen 1s for a week (trying them against the QC SCs, Sony XM4s, & the Anker Space One Pros) and have the gen 2s coming on Monday. I can give you my humble opinion next week if you can wait, although you could just purchase the gen2s and return them anytime. FYI, I able to grab the gen2s for 349.99 from b&h, so $50 more for the gen 2s upgrades is probably more than worth it (gen1s were 299.99).
As for the gift card/promo, it's paid out by Bose so I don't think they will have a way to take it back or have Costco enforce a repayment from you...

Gen2 and Gen1 sounds about the same. I've been only using for 30 minutes to some EDM, pop, and classical to get a feel for it. Gen2 has better battery life, feels much more polished, and a bit more comfortable. Gen1 is on sale for $279 right now versus Gen2 for $399. With that said the QuietComfort is also on sale for $179. The QC build is flimsy, lower quality, but the sound is about 95% there to the Ultras.

I think if you have to have it all, get Gen2. Gen1 is excellent on sound like Gen2. If you can sacrifice build quality and some soundstage (especially on clarity for classical music), the QC is an amazing buy.

ANC is about the same for Gen1 and Gen2. QC ANC is not as good and the sound leaks a bit at max volume. Interesting, the QC fits better but since the cup/cushion is made with lower quality material it doesn't snug (feel) as good around your ears. In any case, QC, Ultra Gen 1 or Ultra Gen 2 are great headphones if you like the Bose signature tuning.

I tried the QC Ultra gen 1 when they came out and liked the fit/sound but HATED the controls since it took forever to press the buttons and the volume touch strip was a usability pain. I'm hoping the gen 2 ultra button presses will respond faster.

My Gen 2's should arrive Tuesday. Hoping Bose improved button responsiveness. My son loves the QC 35 II's I bought him years ago, hates my QC700 due to the touch/gestures, and Ultra seems like in-between.

Does anyone know if the Apple GC is for Apple Music subscription only or can it be used for Apple hardware instead from Apple.com or the Apple Store?

So I tested the qc sc, qc ultra 1, & the qc ultra 2(also the sony xm4s). The ultra2s are the best sounding, most comfortable, & well made out of all 4.
I was able to snag them for $350 so I'm keeping those & returning all the other ones.
