If you're not already invested in MFT lenses and don't need the reach, the Lumix S5ii, which is currently on sale on Panasonic's own website, is a much better value. Essentially same body, but with the sensor almost 4 times as big.
i thought this was cheaper before? i think i got mine a year ago for 1100, and then BB had them for cheaper even with lens.
like the comment above me, only got those if you already invested in MFT lens. starting new in MFT likely isn't a good idea, especially in this day and age. also keep in mind that this share the same body as the S5, so you really just carrying a full frame with quarter sized sensor.
i guess i don't understand the number of upvote this deal got. the deal posted a year ago for 1100 only get 28 upvotes.
Looks like tariffs hit photography gear pretty hard. Managed to score this camera last year for around $700 by trading in a $10 kids camera as part of a trade-in promo.

And with a smaller collection of available lenses, that cost vastly more and are huge by comparison. So, like everything, a trade-off. You'll get better low-light performance with the larger sensor. You'll also miss shots because you didn't buy that other lens to play with since it cost so much. Both are fantastic cameras, and you'll want to consider all the factors of investing in a system that you'll want to stay in for a while. There are great reasons for going either way.

Skip that and go straight to medium format. Used 50s ii is close to that price 😆

Not bad advice for those who value sensor size over photography (and there are a lot of such people out there).

Good advice. There are basically no bad cameras being produced now, and very few bad lenses. Choosing a camera based on sensor size is what noobs with more money than brains do, because they don't know anything about photography. Actually using any of these cameras will quickly show someone that the limiting factor is always the photographer, not the camera.
