Coming out to 1527 with tax which makes it ineligible for the PayPal pay in 4 CB. Ugh

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

This desktop is NOT comparable to the previous frontpage deal that the OP linked, that computer had an actual desktop cpu, motherboard, and ram. The computer in this deal has a mobile cpu that is soldered onto a hm870 (mobile chipset) motherboard, and uses laptop sodimm ram.
Specs sheet: https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/L...90YE0014US

This isn't an awful value, since the 5070ti is worth ~$750, the ram's worth almost $200 (since ai is ruining everything for consumers, the ram would've been worth $80 a couple months ago), and the 255hx is quite powerful for a mobile cpu. That being said, there have definitely been better deals recently, and Lenovo's lack of transparency is downright user hostile imo. Most people looking to buy a prebuilt aren't going to recognize that this computer doesn't have proper desktop components, and I'm pretty sure that's what Lenovo is counting on.

I've raged a bit about this is the other posts. Glad I'm not alone in being disgusted with Lenovo's practices.

The 255 HX is soldered but it is a powerful and efficient with very low cooling demands compared to high powered desktop CPUs, which means it can run a lot quieter compared to an Arrow Lake desktop chip with no throttling, especially with an AIO setup. There is no CPU upgradablity but there are other benefits to this setup. Also, it's very clear it is a laptop chip on the Lenovo site so I'm not sure how it's deceptive. Whether or not it's worth the value is up to the end users.

Agree with your initial statements that this is not an option to be ignored simply because it's a mobile processor but I'm with the others on the rest: it's not clear anywhere on the Lenovo page for this build that this is a mobile processor that is soldered, without looking it up on Intel's and other sites. Where do you see it? Here's what's on the page:

"Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 255HX Processor (E-cores up to 4.50 GHz P-cores up to 5.20 GHz)

Game & stream fast. Intel® Core™ Ultra HX processors and built-in Intel® Graphics are designed to give you the performance you need. The most popular games are designed to work seamlessly with Intel® Core™ Ultra processors. Play your favorite titles with confidence, without worrying about compatibility issues."

Not to defend Lenovo or claim that everyone looks at the URL. But it does say "laptop-processor" in the URL.

Fair point. To me, HX is a laptop suffix that gives it away. I can see less educated people not being aware of it. Lenovo should clearly label that it is a mobile processor in the selection page

Yeah I don't know how people are claiming to be able to exceed this. When I tried for various purchases, it simply disallowed the payment method
