I usually drain fully before charging but if you like to keep it plugged - you can always detach head to keep in this and base for charge!

ah good point on detaching the head. it is kind of a hassle to do that though.

I usually don't fully drain (unless I'm traveling) because i have an older toothbrush (it's lasted 12+ years) that doesn't remind me when it's on low battery

I just put the toothbrush head in the dishwasher's utensil basket once a week. I use two heads, and just rotated them out.
