Yep!

But seriously: take it easy. Idk why these basic questions elicit such an intense reaction.

This is Tivo only in name. It doesn't have DVR.

This thing is equivalent to a 4k 4th gen Chromecast but with a better remote and a USB C. It's just has the Tivo app installed. It's old (2019?) but still plenty capable.

Good deal if you're looking for a cheap Disney+ sub. Awful deal if you're looking for a streaming dongle.
Wonder if they still make you create a Tivo account when setting this thing up now that they've abandoned it.
I have this and it does require a Tivo account during the setup process. But for this price I would get the $45 Onn box.

Seriously is that the end of the world? If you buy an android TV stick you have to have a Google account. If you buy a Roku, you have to have a Roku account. So what's the problem? I have this stick. It's easily as good as any 20 to $25 stick. So is Disney plus with ads worth 10-$15 a year for you? Only you can decide that.
The difference is Google has their own ecosystem and payment system. With Roku it's their own ecosystem and payment system as well. This is just a customized version of Android TV (Google's ecosystem). Why give your personal information to ANOTHER company when you don't have to? There is no benefit to it; it only adds a security risk and another point of failure. Especially with a company like Tivo who has one foot in the grave. Call me crazy but I don't think their new TV OS is gonna save them.

And even if this streamer was as good as any $20-$25 dollar streamer (it's not, I owned two) it's an end of life product. No more software updates, no more security updates, no support. Why invest in something where software could break a month from now with little chance of a fix or become a vulnerability on your network?

Like I said, it's a good deal on a cheap Disney+ sub. But if you're mostly interested in this deal for the streamer, it's not a good deal.

Note: I did love the remote on this thing because I am one of those sickos who loves a number pad.

Lol. You act like they're asking for a lot. Disney and Hulu will be one app next year.
It's already in one app, they just combined the access, they did not get rid of Hulu. Same with espn

The big question is: Can I mod this like I used to do with phones? Is there a community behind it?

Do you have to use the TiVo stream to watch the Disney+ content with the free subscription, or do they just email a code or something to get a year subscription, so you can watch it on your existing smart TV (or existing TiVo DVR for that matter)?

Any idea if this includes Hulu?
Probably not, but I've see some shows on Hulu available on Disney+ so YMMV

Worth it for the Disney+ sub.. the device is meh.. TiviMate and F1TV apps are always crashing. I don't think the specs on this device have changed in years.

I just wish the OP put in Disney with ads. I wouldn't even come into the thread.

I have 3 of these and use them still (use roamio with fios still too, so family is familiar with remote). For the D+ sub it's worth it.
Highly recommend de-tivo it and is much better.

Do people actually give companies real info? I just use a throwaway email with a fake name.

I have one and it's just as good as any other $20-$25 streamer. I understand the concern about end-of-life products; however, just because support ends doesn't mean the device will just self-destruct or become insecure overnight.

Tons of devices still function long after their last update. Security risks can be managed with proper precautions like firewalls or network isolation. Not all software issues are fatal, and often, community support or workarounds can resolve minor problems. So, while the lack of updates is a valid concern, it doesn't always mean the device is automatically a liability.
