I have this setup, but the 930C version. Unless they changed since my version, that isn't my experience. I have to turn down the sub most of the way due to the bass it produces.

I returned a 990F and bought another 990D as the new square sub sounds worse to me than the sub in the previous model. I'd highly recommend that EPP deal if you can find someone with a .edu email address to get you in. That said the 930 doesn't sound a whole lot worse, so if you can't this is a decent deal.

last i looked the edu deal had moved estimated delivery all the way back to dec 29 and it may have slid more as it kept changing. however this woot estimates dec 16-18 which still isnt great but better

whats the difference between this and 990d?

I'm debating between those two and the sub is the concern. I'm leaning towards the F due to the smaller size of the sub so I can hide it easier. Was there a big difference in size and sound?

i bought this when Woot had the price at $699 back in October (I don't have a EPP account to get the 990 series). It replaced a Sonos setup (Beam gen 2, sub mini and s1 surrounds). I love it! Great sound, powerful bass, lots of support for audio formats. I don't care for the Smartthings app as i feel like the config options are not as robust as the Sonos but it fits my needs well. I definately would buy again at this price.

Just thought the F's new sub sounded a little bit muddy and didn't quite hit the booms as well in action sequences like the D's does. It's still a good system but since the 990F is 967.99 at Woot [woot.com] and the D is 688.99 at Samsung with EPP, the 990D [samsung.com] is definitely the better deal. If you don't have EPP though the F still sounds great and is a good deal under $1k at Woot.
