For example, I wanted to get my wife a (legit) Taser when she worked late retail hours, in no way under the law (as it was, not sure if it has changed since) was carrying a concealed "stun gun" not a felony but she could pack dual 7.62x39 Draco's after an 8 hour class. Problem is her employer would fire her for carrying a pistol on company property...even a single shot .22 Short. Not only that, once you shoot someone, they are shot. You might end apologizing to the family or a jury because of the accident. After a good tasing, pepper spray, etc at least you can laugh over the entire affair with the victim...assuming they have a good since of humor....no pace maker
P.S. Pepper spray is completely legal in NYC (check behind me), just has to be sold in person and by a licensed retailer. Kinda like a gun or most alcohol

You can't use tasers because it might kill them with a heart attack or injure them when they fall and pepper spray... I don't know, why is getting pepper spray hard? All because some pranksters were using them? That was the reasoning I remember in CA...
Either way, it's hard to defend yourself non lethally when getting them is hard on some states...
0.01% chance of heart attack or brain injury from falls vs 50% chance of sudden death if shot center mass. Thank god NC is looking out for public safety
FWIW, Tasers are completely legal in NC, just can't conceal them. So apparently their "free use" only matters if you can see it before hand. Maybe the lack of surprise before being tasered lowers the risk of heart attack? #TheMoreYouKnow
