It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Unsurprisingly, this is extremely misleading advertising from Comcast. This is NOT Fiber internet as you're still connected via coax cable, and upload speeds are a tenth of download speeds. As someone who once exclusively used Comcast for personal internet/TV as well as internet/phones at multiple business offices, please reconsider using Comcast Xfinity service if you have any other option (except Windstream or an affiliate) available in your area. Their customer service is atrocious, it's extremely difficult to connect with a knowledgeable person when there's a problem (and there will be problems), their hidden fees are outrageous, and they're inflexible if you need to move office locations or to a new home that requires one to break the "locked-in" terms agreement. They're just a shady, unscrupulous company, and their ostensible "1 Gig FIBER Internet" promotion that isn't actually FIBER internet perfectly illustrates this.
They really do need to reign that in. Comcast does have FTTH but only in limited areas.

As for alternatives, I've tried them. Quantum Fiber is strictly worse in all respects. Reliability, speed, support, scheduling availability to fix issues. Simply incompetent and reliant on dated, oversold, underspec'd infrastructure. Still hasn't bothered to support IPv6 properly. Outsourced support that somehow manages to be less able to do anything than Comcast or Mediacom. 15mbps plus 30% packet loss straight out of the ONT and "everything looks good". Techs are spread thin, open about having to drive up to multiple hours one way due to layoffs. Etc. It really felt like they were barely holding on and just barely functioning as an ISP.

I'm hoping Quantum Fiber's acquisition by AT&T will turn them into a viable option.

For current customers, who signed up with a family member name and cancelled existing account. did xfinity give you trouble activating the existing modem? last time xfinity told me i have to wait 24 hours to decouple the modem from old account.
Canceled the service several hours before signing up the new account. Xfinity will not disconnect you immediately. When the new modem arrives, plug it in. Call Xfinity say you are having trouble connecting. Tell Xfinity that the old modem information is probably registered to the address or account. The rep will remove the old one and register the new one. At least that's what I did several years ago.

Just got rid of our Comcast Internet after 25yesrs they upped our rate to over $500 without notice
I called and re-did our contract they still charged us the next $500
Then instead of it going to the signed contract of approx $250 they kept charging us over $500 three months when by before I noticed (I know shame on me)
The sales people lie with no accountability at all on them
And when I called and canceled it was near impossible to get someone to get it canceled pure shyt company and shyt customer service
Not to mention the numerous times our Internet would go out
Or have incredible lag
We live in downtown West palm Beach FL
Shouldn't be an issue not like we are living in the woods somewhere
Infinity Internet IS PURE SHYT
RUN FROM THEM

Excellent deal! I've been having to cancel and sign up again every year or two. I noticed this year, my 1 year price contract expired in June but they extended it for another year without any action for me (original statement said expired Jun 2025, but after that it updated to Jun 2026). I see my area is $50 for 1Gbit and a new plan/speed of $70 for 2Gbit with twice the upload (125mbit it vs 250mbit). Of course i signed up for the 2000/250 plan, cheaper than the $75 i was paying before for 1000/125. Thanks!!
Good luck I'll bet you regret it

This depends on your area, in some neighborhoods they're already advertising 300/300mpbs, 500/500mpbs, 1/1gbps and 2/2gbps symmetrical speeds so I assume they're finally offering FTTH in order to compete with Att and verizon, not to say they were finally forced to get rid of data caps
That's the main reason I haven't switched. I'm on AT&T Fiber and getting 1000mbps symmetric but for $80 a month.

I activated a new service plan under the same account today, they gave me a brand-new account number I can switch to after signing up yesterday. Next, I guess I'll have to swing by the store to return the old modem, disconnect the old account, and move my mobile line over to the new one. No way I'm dealing with Xfinity support over the phone, I'm not signing up for that chaos lol.

I've been an Xfinity customer for 17 years, I called the 800-266-2278 and told them about the deal and without any issues, after 40 minutes I was all set.

It took a while because the rep stated he had to refresh their system. I would suggest you call during business hours and not on the weekends. Good luck.

OP thumbs up & repped.

You could have merged (linked) the account without doing all that. I kept same account number and it gave me an option to link or create a new profile.

You can pay early with credit card and still get the discount. T-Mobile caught onto this so Xfinity might do that soon too

Will Fios match, anyone have any luck? I'm going to call them tomorrow, figure it can't hurt to try first. If they don't, then I'm jumping on this deal. I'm paying $95/month for Fios 1GB. I'm all for cutting things in half for the next 5 years!!
