It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

From what I read....

- you just have to open another account using different email (and can use the same name, address, phone number, etc(?)) and signup for the new customer deal using the second account.
- And after the signup is complete and you provided your payment information and completed the order, then either your old plan in 1st account will automatically cancel or just do it manually by chat on line?

Again, both account can use the same name, address, phone number but just have a different email account since the account User ID is based on email address? Even the payment information can be the same between both account?

And since you ordered the new customer Internet plan and complete the transaction and internet activation without contacting/chatting with any customer services person, as long as the system allow it (like same name, same address, same phone number, same payment method, etc with different email address) really doesn't matter what Customer Services person tell you if it can or cannot be done(?)....

Thank you, Op, and everyone here. I finally placed the order using my current account details, applying the trick mentioned in this thread. Also used the MC50 code for a $50 Prepaid Virtual Gift Card and activated cashback on the popular cb site to receive $25.

I hope to receive my new equipment soon and that everything goes smoothly without any issues.

I'm currently on a 1-gig plan and paying about $30 for internet (original price is $110, but I have a 24-month contract discount and a $40 discount for having an unlimited mobile line), plus $40 for the mobile line itself. Would it make sense to switch to this new plan? The net savings would be around $20 per month. Would appreciate your thoughts.

I ordered service online last night... didn't wait for email or text to pickup the modem. Went into the store, got the modem, but seems like that rep created a whole new account - is that normal?

Is the rep trying to get commission off me? It seems like I lost the $50 gift card + whatever cash back I might have gotten from a portal if that's the case...

Also, my order confirmation doesn't seem to show that it has the 5 year guarantee locked on my 300mbps plan - did the rep screw something up by just having me go in store to pickup the modem/gateway?

The only workaround I've found is to manually pay your bill 6 business days before it should debit your checking account. The payment clears on your account so by the time the debit payment is due, the account has a $0 balance. You can prepay up to 60 days from current date so I always do 2 months at a time in case I forget one month. I have a reminder set on my iPhone.
My problem with it is that I don't want to give anyone my bank account details because credit cards have certain protections that bank accounts and debit cards do not have.

Verizon, for instance, has the same autopay discount promo, but they also added another option, where you can use a Verizon credit card for the promo.

Agreed - I am a current customer & was able to avail this offer by not logging in initially. I logged in only when they asked to create an account. Now, I'm just curious on when does the new service activate & when should I cancel my existing service.
Do you lose your email address or can you keep your current email address you have now

You could be a new customer. Just sign up a new account with your wife or your dogs name and cancel your current account. You just need to tell them you move out and let your wife to use all your current equipment. I do this almost every year to stay as a new customer. 🤣

I was able to keep my same email address on the account. By the way, I have already received the new modem for the new plan and have started using it. It was a smooth transition - my old account was easily cancelled.

I was able to switch to this plan within the Apps; at the end, it showed submit the order, not the check out. So I didn't have the chance to add the promotion code to get $50.

If I have 2 existing mobile lines at $60/mo, can I use this promo with 1 free one and add one for $20 AND get them to transfer over our existing phone numbers without porting out and porting back in?

Nice. So it is a simple plan switch then. No hassle to deal with new account etc

If you read all the posts, most if not all said even using App, you can't just switch plan if you login to your current account. Some said they need to click on new account when look for plans in your address to see this new customer deal.

If it is as simple as login to your account in the App and switch plan, it will be mentioned in the original post and in Wiki post the steps for current customer to get this deal already.

It is a new plan added to the same user. After submitting the order and re logging in, it shows two account numbers, you can choose one to continue. I will cancel the old account and active the new one. The mobile line is optional, it is not required to get this discount.
