It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

No one should use Xfinity unless it's your only option.
That is a true statement. However, Xfinity is a monopoly in many areas. Sure, one can get fixed wireless internet, but you are not going to get 1Gbps on those services.

so my spouse can sign up for this and I just cancel our existing plan? currently paying almost triple this for just our internet. it went up a year ago or so and I've been meaning to look for something better. seems like only new customers get the best deals. I'm good with turning in existing equipment and getting new ones and having a day or two of downtime.

Whats the cheapest way to port out 2 mobile lines from my existing Xfinity plan and port them back in on the new plan? I saw someone mentioned Tello, and I think I'd be spending $70 total based on that post? ($10/line charge from Tello and $25/line from Xfinity)

I did this, and received the new modem/router in a few days. Went in in-person to cancel the old service and returned the old equipments with no issues. I did see that I might get a prorated refund since I cancel mid billing cycle. I was on a $60 plan for 600 mbps. Now it's $50 + tax for 1 gig.

You can activate the new service first. Then call Xfinity or visit their store to cancel the old plan. I'd prefer to visit.

Providing an update. Old xfinity account pending close and refund. You can call and cancel but no action necessary since it's all automatic.

Seems like a good deal. ATT keeps increasing prices and this includes a year of Xfinity mobile? Nice.

I did a Xfinity 5-Year promo a few months ago and followed the steps to create a new account with a new email but with the old name and address. I setup everything and picked up the modem in store.

Apparently activating the new modem automatically disconnected the old service. When I returned the old modem the store associate mentioned the service is already canceled and provided me a receipt. I will check my account again in a few days.

I think you have to take the mobile line (free not counting fees, surcharges and taxes) to get this price. You also have to keep it for one year but then you should be able to cancel and keep $50/mont for internet price for 4 more years, at least this is how i understand TOC

There are no fees or other charges at all. Straight up free.

Interesting about activating the new modem automatically disconnecting the old service. It sounds like most folks here were just using their same login info and same email address that's tied to their original account.

I'm going to try and do this for my mom's account and save her some money and hopefully all they need to do is drop off the old modem as I'll have the new modem shipped to them and get everything up and running for them.
