Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.
That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Apparently activating the new modem automatically disconnected the old service. When I returned the old modem the store associate mentioned the service is already canceled and provided me a receipt. I will check my account again in a few days.
It's right below the Peacock Premium line.
Even with the user, you are technically cloaing your old account (have to return your Xfinity equipment) and get new equipment.
If you think returning old equipment is painful for you, you can try chatting/contacting customer support to move you to this plan. People have been successful with that!

Anyone knows how to transfer my xfinity cell line from my old a/c to my new a/c?
Either way, I tried all this because I got a new promo from Frontier which has Fios right here on my street in SWFL. Frontier's offer was for 1gig for $49 a month but price was good for just 1 year. I called Frontier and the rep gave me free 6 months on top of the $150 GC in the promo. So, looks like I'm taking it and will revisit in a year. Frontier, BTW, is more reliable in my area with all new fiber put in couple years back. Survived 3 hurricanes with no down time. Neighbors have no complaints. Also, Frontier reps were so much nicer (all in USA) and helpful than the Xfinity crowd.
Terms say, "After 1 year, taxes and fees, and other applicable charges extra, and subj. to change." which in a way means taxes and fees are included/free for the 1st year?
Also, I have ATT fiber till the end of the month so can I order this an only "activate" later?
