It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

With my previous 300Mbps/300Mbps plan, using the Wifi modem Xfinity provided, I can get above 300Mbps upload and 300 download speed as stated. But when I switch to use Hitron CODA56 Multi-Gigabit DOCSIS 3.1 Modem, the certified Xfinity upload speed is up to 455 Mbps but activate the modem with Xfinity during chat, only get up to 100+up and no where close 455Mbps. Is that normal?

Is it cause by the Xfinity online chat support not activate the modem correctly? Or it is due to cable wiring section inside the house which only Xfinity provided Wifi modem can handle the faster upload speed but Hitron CODA56 can't handle it? After switch to 1000/1000 plan, the download speed get up to 900+ Mbps but upload speed of CODA56 still around 100+ Mbps.
Would getting another modem like ARRIS S34 (another Xfinity certified modem) help or would contacting Xfinity support to check the upload speed again help?

Me and my roommates swap internet ownership every 12 months or so, to keep getting the new customer bonus. The store once told me a new customer is defined as 9 months of no active service.
It's so fcking dumb we even have to do this. Hate cable companies.

Well about a month ago I was duped by a customer service type into thinking I was getting a good deal. My 3 year "contract" of 1.2g @ $89 was expiring, and I got a new bill of $135. I called and they offered me an 800mb plan at $85. Their best offer so he said. Well, I am a 77 year old senior and like a dope I believed him and took the deal. Our internet noticeably slowed down, but we were saving a whole $4.

Unfortunately, the only other option was TMobile 5G home internet which I tried for 3 months. However, it was all over the place with slow speeds, then fast speeds, then no speeds from random disconnects. I canceled that and had to go through the hassle of returning the modem/router - another off-topic horror story I'll skip.

Anyway, Xfinity it is as my only option, and I am closely reading this thread to see if there is anything I can do to improve my speed and/or cost. Thanks for the posts.
A quick attempt at solution will be to get a modern router. Each device at most needs about 25Mbps. So unless you have hundreds of devices connected. 1.2G vs 800 Mbps would not make much of a difference in speed. One option might be get a more modern Wifi 6 - dual band router (triband is not a must). That will be less than $100 or less than $50 if you want to buy an used router from ebay.

Yup, and saw the little message that indicated it was applied. I did have to go back and edit the mobile portion to add an additional line, so maybe it un-applied the code when I went back to checkout.
Possibly! Can you check your order confirmation email to see if it is listed there. I have received multiple order confirmation emails but there is one which lists everything including the upload speed etc. And I see the $50 card listed there:

Your Xfinity Plan

Internet 1 Gig | Download speeds up to 1000 Mbps; Upload speeds up to 35 Mbps
$110.00 / mo
Unlimited Data
Included

Peacock Premium included for 2 years (must activate within 90 days)
Included

$50 Virtual Prepaid Card
Included

Go to xfinity WITHOUT logging in, pick plan and place in cart then sign in when it asks if new customer or existing.
I am getting an error "400 Request Header or Cookie too large" while trying to do this?
Can someone provide a step by step instructions?

I am a current customer but would like to upgrade to 1gig without the mobile line.

1.2 TB monthly datacap is for the birds.
$30 more a month to remove the data cap. Or your are going to risk paying even more than $30 in overage fees.
With Data Caps it may no longer be a good deal if you are a tech family with lots of devices and gadgets.

My family of six does streaming and online gaming and we are consistently 2x to 3x that data cap without anything illegal (no illegal movie downloads, no pirating etc).

When you click on the plan, in the "Broadband Facts" section (probably on the left of the web page), click on "Expand label", there is a section for "Data included with Monthly Price". For most people, it clearly stated it is Unlimited.
There is no footnote or anything that indicate it is capped.

If in your state, you are not getting Unlimited data, then check the "Data included with Monthly Price" section to verify.

May need to wait a bit of time for the system to update, but should be able to activate the modem within few hours after you received the confirmation email. It doesn't hurt to try right after you received the confirmation email.
