It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

All new equipment (just shipped this morning). Signed up under a new email, but at checkout the system recognized my phone number and connected it to my existing account. Not seeing the $50 card anywhere, so I'm on hold to get that ironed out. Edit: Rep said I have to wait until I get the new equipment and activate it to get the $50. I have a feeling I'll have to call again to get it. 🤷
After adding the 50/month 5 year lock, did you proceed to add Ultimate plan, and the 2 tv boxes were available to add then also?At what point did you add new mail? Did you login as existing before checkout, or did you create account and enter all same info as existing account, with the email change there?

Did not log in before, started in an incognito tab. Added Ultimate and extra mobile line to cart, then started checkout. They don't let you add equipment until the checkout process. During checkout, they ask for all your contact info, which is where I typed in the new email. But the system recognized the phone number and asked if i wanted to link it to the existing account, which I did.

We had signed up my wife for the (5) year price lock deal about (2) months ago and just yesterday I ordered this (5) year price lock deal under my name as it's a good chunk of change cheaper. We have an XB8 we are using already but I given a new XB8 for the new account which I picked up from the Xfinity store yesterday. I haven't activated and hooked up the new XB8 yet but I plan to tomorrow. My wife did get an email from Xfinity today saying we've received your cancellation request but we didn't request a cancellation. I guess this was prompted by me ordering service is my name at the same address? I guess we'll see what happens when I set up and activate the new XB8 tomorrow.
I got the same cancelation request email. I was concerned they would disconnect before i receive the new hardware, so I called to cancel the disconnect. Had to get the first rep (Indian) to transfer me to an American rep to resolve it.

Xfinity has reasonable prices and good, reliable services, but their data cap gotcha is bs. Dropped them 2 years ago and so glad I don't have to keep tracking my data usage for fear of going over the data cap.

How to cancel old account via chat? Or how long will it take to cancel the old account once the new account is set up?

It's been discussed multiple times in here. Just call or chat and request cancel.

Chat is just an automated system not letting me chat with actual human. That's why I am asking here for help. Thank you SOB

It's just like an automated call system. Type "representative" and it will get you to a person.

Just signed up for this deal yesterday as an existing customer using the steps outlined in previous posts. Already activated the new gateway and cancelled the old account, but still haven't gotten the $50 prepaid card yet. Not really expecting to get it at this point. Also, my rewards account was downgraded to gold from diamond. Still totally worth it, though.

where do i find this info for my address?
After you go on to the Xfinity website and click on the "Get offer" button for any of the deals it makes you type in your full address, that's where you can see what speed tiers are available for your area

I upgraded my 300MBps $40/mo to this 1GB deal on Sun 12/7. System automatically created a new account for me and consolidated both accounts. I then later cancelled the old account, returned the old equipment, got the new equipment and activated service, all within a span of 1 hr. I strongly suggest to call up Xfnity after old account cancellation to confirm that the account is cancelled, since, even though you may receive a cancellation notice email, and you may not have access to old accout, but the services on your old account may still remain active. Call them after a day or two of account cancellation and then confirm the pro-rated refund you may be entitled to receive for your old service.

I have astound which was $55/mo and free unlimited mobile line, ends up costing me $76 after direct pay discount.
