It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Did you create the new account using the new email and phone number or second account with the same phone number? I also have existing mobile lines and want to avoid the mobile cancellation. Does anyone get this deal by creating a 2nd account using the same info with the mobile line? If you cancel the internet from the existing account, will the mobile be cancelled, or will it be ok since you have another account with the internet?
They created a new account with my same email. Every time when I login in, it will let me choose an account to login . This caused my mobile port out issue. So better to use a new username for this deal.

I've been trying to get on this deal for 2 days now. I am getting stuck at when they ask for DOB (date of birth) for verification. It says they cannot verify my identity. Chat rep confirmed that I have my DOB on their system under my account. Anyone having same issue like this?
edit: I rolled the dice and decided to chat live sales rep and told him about my situation and I just made a story that my sister wants to get a new service/account under the same home address and under same xfinity ID. Rep did not ask reason why we need another service and help me build a cart and was able to do it without further issue. Now when I go to log in page, I can see the new account and my old account as choices. He said once the new service gets activated that the old one will get deactivated. Only problem is, I have to wait for 3-5 business days for my equipment to be shipped, no option to pick it up. Regardless, I am happy, I was able to get the deal after 2 days of trying and getting frustrated. Thanks OP and everyone.

Just signed up for this deal yesterday as an existing customer using the steps outlined in previous posts. Already activated the new gateway and cancelled the old account, but still haven't gotten the $50 prepaid card yet. Not really expecting to get it at this point. Also, my rewards account was downgraded to gold from diamond. Still totally worth it, though.
How did you cancel the old account and when did the rewards account get downgraded?

Thanks! Was able to sign up for a new account. I usually cancel ever 1-2 yrs after promotion expires. This is a great deal for 5 years and unlimited data! Was getting tired of monitoring usage to avoid overage fees. About time they got rid of data caps

I've Xfinity Now for $25 - 200mbps I'm happy with this. Currently running 2 TVs 3 laptop, several blink/Xbox/misc devices and 3 Cellphones.
Internet speeds are overhyped. You don't need anything over a consistent 200 mbps.

I am getting an error "400 Request Header or Cookie too large" while trying to do this?
Can someone provide a step by step instructions?

I am a current customer but would like to upgrade to 1gig without the mobile line.
xfinity software is messed up. Better to use a browser with the cookies cleared for xfinity and start fresh. I use a different browser like say Firefox specifically to start from scratch. Alternately you can use private browsing / incognito mode.

i called them but they say I have to pay contract breaking fee if I switch or leave. I am thinking to start with my spouse as new account holder and the 50$ will cover the contract breaking fees

Thanks for sharing.

I have several hundred dollars of credit on my AT&T Fiber account (paid by different credit cards). Does anyone know if AT&T refunds the credit to the original payment method or issues a check after closing the account? Thanks for your info.

I was in the same boat as you are, stuck on dob verification also. Somehow, chat rep was able to look up the offer and created a new account for me as well. Congrats!

I am paying $74 for 300 Mbps and $64 each month for 2 lines of Xfinity mobile with Pixel phones. I am thinking of porting out to ATT prepaid yearly service and then cancel Home internet and rejoining with my wife's account to get the deal for 5 years.

Anyone know if Xfinity locks their Pixel phones? I know Pixels are usually unlocked if you buy them straight from Google but what if you get them from Xfinity?

Yeah, I prefer symmetrical 300 Mbps over fiber than asymmetrical 1 Gbps over coax. Faster uploads (for work) and better latency (for online gaming). But that's just me. 99% of people won't really notice the difference, and even Xfinity's coax 200–300 Mbps plans are more than enough for most households. PS: Xfinity does offer fiber internet in some areas, so one needs to check what is available in their neighborhood.
how we would know if the fiber they offer is actual fiber instead of over coax?

Congrats to you as well. The only thing I was not able to do was to have hime apply the promo code for the gift card. He looks like he was in a hurry to get me to accept the offer. Did you get your gift card via chat?
