Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.
That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Q: How to sign up as a "new" customer when you're actually NOT a new customer.
Use someone else's info
1 Name - Wife? Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Child? Dog? Cat? Mother? Father?
2 Email - DIFFERENT email from the account you're moving from. Gmail? Yahoo? Outlook? etc.
3 Phone - DIFFERENT phone from the account you're moving from. This phone needs to be able to receive text messages for sign in creds to the xfinity app. Wife's phone? ... see list of other options above for more ideas.
Now this may be YMMV but if you go instore to an xfinity shop they can help you do this. That's how I did it, my dude actually advised me to use my wife's first and middle name to super extra fool the system. There's no credit check, no SS number, nothing to verify the person signing up is who they say they are and the bill can be paid by anyone so the name doesn't matter.
Did any of you that signed up last year for the 2 gig plan end up with the total being under $50 a month for that plan? I don't know how but that's what I ended up with on a 2nd address I provide internet to.
My upload speeds on a gigabit Xfinity plan rarely exceeded 30mbps. I switched to Fios 500/500 plan and it's soooo much better.
Comcast is really walking right up to the line of false advertising with their "Fiber-Powered Gig Internet." Most consumers have only a basic understanding of the tech and will believe they're signing up for fiber internet, not copper, and many will blindly assume that the advertised speed applies to download and upload alike.
I stream IPTV and my kids do PC gaming/youtube. Heavy usage and the speed is plenty.
Not sure why the average user thinks they need 1gb.
100mbps is fast enough for me.
I just moved and had the 300mbps with Spectrum and I do not notice a difference.
It's a fantastic deal really.

Anyway, worth asking.
Also, they must have changed their customer service people, because six months ago they couldn't understand anything I was asking about and even their "supervision" as awful. Last month and just now, they were actually incredibly helpful and quick about it.
Not anymore
No you don't.
Highly recommend the Hitron Coda56 if you want the latest and greatest. Using your own modem does not put you back on capped internet though, it's still unlimited.
