It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Since everyone's asking this question over and over.

Q: How to sign up as a "new" customer when you're actually NOT a new customer.

Use someone else's info
1 Name - Wife? Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Child? Dog? Cat? Mother? Father?
2 Email - DIFFERENT email from the account you're moving from. Gmail? Yahoo? Outlook? etc.
3 Phone - DIFFERENT phone from the account you're moving from. This phone needs to be able to receive text messages for sign in creds to the xfinity app. Wife's phone? ... see list of other options above for more ideas.

Now this may be YMMV but if you go instore to an xfinity shop they can help you do this. That's how I did it, my dude actually advised me to use my wife's first and middle name to super extra fool the system. There's no credit check, no SS number, nothing to verify the person signing up is who they say they are and the bill can be paid by anyone so the name doesn't matter.

Did any of you that signed up last year for the 2 gig plan end up with the total being under $50 a month for that plan? I don't know how but that's what I ended up with on a 2nd address I provide internet to.

oh wow, dealbreaker. i have 300 up/down via fios right now and the upload speed is really key to a fast feeling internet imo

My upload speeds on a gigabit Xfinity plan rarely exceeded 30mbps. I switched to Fios 500/500 plan and it's soooo much better.

Comcast is really walking right up to the line of false advertising with their "Fiber-Powered Gig Internet." Most consumers have only a basic understanding of the tech and will believe they're signing up for fiber internet, not copper, and many will blindly assume that the advertised speed applies to download and upload alike.

For existing customers, you don't need to create a new account, you don't have to cancel old account. Simply go to the offer, log in, change plans, and select this plan and go through the order procedures. Xfinity has simplified changing plans. I have done this in the past and just did it today. Was paying $65 for 1 gig, now my next bill estimate is showing up as $50. Again no cancelling is required, no equipment return required, simply login to your account and change plan.
That is probably YMMV because I dont see this price unless I go in as a new customer. Would be nice.

Yes. You don't have to activate the mobile if you don't want.

Currently using Xfinity NOW $30/mo. 100mb/sec. No taxes. Unlimited data.
I stream IPTV and my kids do PC gaming/youtube. Heavy usage and the speed is plenty.
Not sure why the average user thinks they need 1gb.
I have this too.
100mbps is fast enough for me.
I just moved and had the 300mbps with Spectrum and I do not notice a difference.
It's a fantastic deal really.

I did the same about 2 weeks ago. Xfinity refused to give me the deal so I scheduled a disconnect date 2 weeks into the future. Signed up with AT&T 1gb fiber for $55/month. Then decided to give Xfinity another try, and they let me have the $50/month plan as a new customer. Cancelled the AT&T before it got installed, then shipped back my old Xfinity modem and Xumo box when the new Xfinity modem and Xumo box arrived. Very dumb game they want to play, but hey- I love playing games so game on! $50/month no contract for 5 years is great! I'm getting 1200 download speed and 120 upload speed. I upgraded my mesh wifi to Orbi Wifi 7 to take advantage of the faster speeds. So far so good.
didn't think u culd pull that off. usually they make u wait 90 days after cancelling to be considered "new" customer. did u use a different name or change anything from before?

I currently have a plan with them 800 mbps for 80/mo.. I have to wait until July else I have early termination. That sucks :/ I doubt this deal will be available in the summer.
If you ping them then will provide a new offer without termination fee. Change to that then you can cancel for free. I did that

Has anyone successfully ported their mobile line/lines out to another service and then back in to take advantage of the free line promotion? I've completed the whole internet and cable conversion to the new account, but I was just told by an xfinity agent that their system will recognize the phone number as a previous mobile customer and won't allow the promotion to apply. I'm hoping that's only the case if it's under the same account number.
I had the same issue when i moved from old account to new account for same address with same email. i had to call instead of chat and after an hour they moved my line . They said it was an exception and had to get approval from other department. But it worked .

Would totally do this if I didn't have my primary number as the free xfinity line with current account. Canceling it will require a port out and I am not prepared to deal with it right now.

Last month I asked for a better deal when my bill showed an increase from $60/800mbps to $89. I chatted in the app and they got me 1gig for $65, with a 5-year lock. I actually just asked for this deal and they said what I got was the best deal available.

Anyway, worth asking.

Also, they must have changed their customer service people, because six months ago they couldn't understand anything I was asking about and even their "supervision" as awful. Last month and just now, they were actually incredibly helpful and quick about it.
I was told if you recently changed into a plan within the last 45 days then you can change again into this $50 deal. My mom was within that 45 day window on her (5) year (1) gig deal at $85 and was able to change into the $50 deal online as it showed up in her account when logged in under credentials. Put the 'new' 50 plan in her account and was able to check out all without changing any equipment or getting assigned a new account number, etc.

They provide a wireless gateway (modem + router combo). If you don't want their equipment, you don't have to take it. You can use your own modem/router as you please. Just note, many areas are now in the mid-split (aka next gen internet) so if you don't have a current modem you won't see improved upload speeds. And no, you can not successfully cancel and install same day...it's possible, but highly likely to not be successful.

Not anymore

No you don't.

Highly recommend the Hitron Coda56 if you want the latest and greatest. Using your own modem does not put you back on capped internet though, it's still unlimited.
Xfinity gave me a "XB8" modem/router combo which is Wifi 6E. I have a TPlink DECO 6E mesh router with 3 stations. Turned off the Wifi in the XB8 and using my DECO system as a bridge. Works great. Also, if you're a heavy cellular phone service user, the data is throttled after 30 GB. For 10.00 more, you can get their Unlimited Plus mobile upgrade which has 100 GB full speed data....and prioritizes after that during heavy congestion...but speed doesn't get throttled.
