It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Even if you are an existing customer, you can avail this offer. I did the same and moved from 300Mbps to 1Gbps for 5 years. Read the earlier posts for steps.

I was a customer in 2021, then moved and stopped service. Do I qualify as a new customer now?
Even existing customers are able to order as new customer for same address. I did the same. You should have no problems.

Can you get their modem and save in case you have issues with your own equipment or put in bridge mode?

Also do you need to provide a bill matching address or just ID/SSN to open a new acct?

Thinking of pairing this with YTTV, but xfinity Internet is solid and for $60/ 5 years a deal!

Don't want/need the phone line though, is that the only way to get the prepaid $50?

I was told if you recently changed into a plan within the last 45 days then you can change again into this $50 deal. My mom was within that 45 day window on her (5) year (1) gig deal at $85 and was able to change into the $50 deal online as it showed up in her account when logged in under credentials. Put the 'new' 50 plan in her account and was able to check out all without changing any equipment or getting assigned a new account number, etc.
Thanks for that! Gonna chat tonight

I would see if you have the option to sign up once your logged into your account with your current credentials. If it's within 45 days since you signed up you might see the $50 deal as an option so switch to. Look at change or manage plan once logged in if you don't see anything right away - it's worth a shotSmilie

You don't need to get the phone line for the prepaid offer. Can remove it while placing the order.

The easiest way to get this deal as a current customer is to just go through the entire process as a new customer, with all the same credentials, and then sign in at the end vs create a new account. It will then ask you to merge accounts, and once the order is completed support will give you a call to get the cancellation of your now former account in motion. Once you get the modem in the mail, if you're not using your own, and activate your new account give CS a call and set the cancellation to be effective immediately.
are you sure they will call us to merge the accounts ? will existing credits be carried over to the new account ?

Current address:
  1. I added an account under my name and placed an order for $50/month 1gbps 5-year plan.
  2. my husband went to a nearby xfinity store to cancel the old account under his name.
  3. I tried to activate my new account via Xfinity app but got unpay bill message.
  4. Called Xfinity and waited for 40 minutes for Xfinity to activate the same MAC address to my newly created account.
Everything worked smoothly. Now I pay 1gbps for $50/month. We paid 300mbps for $70/month previously. Thank you so much for posting such a great deal and various useful comments from other posters.

I'm a long time Comcast/Xfinity customer and am paying $123/month for 1300 Gbps service via coaxial. I'm also being charged $30/month for a land line and get "discounts" (Veteran, two product, paperless) of $22/mo. I am also being charged $15/mon for router.

I know I'm being overcharged compared with other providers and rates I see advertised, however, I do not want to lose my longtime comcast email addresses (6 in family) if I switch my service to another provider or if I put my account in my wife's name.

How does my monthly charges compare with others? What advice would you suggest for lowering my monthly rate (I'd prefer to keep the internet land line as my cell reception (Yes, Xfinity Mobile) is poor. Same as all other major carriers since I seem to live in a dead zone. I've tried them all via either friends' phones and/or trial Sim testing. RSRP is -123dB... (terrible).
Thanks!

I don't need a second line, but I guess for $25 activation, having a second number for 1-year isn't a bad deal at all. Does anyone know if you can just cancel the line after the 1-year is up? I think a temporary phone line isn't all that bad.

Thanks! This seems easiest as I'm worried the other workaroundbcould come back and mess things up a few months later!
