It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Any hacks to get this for current subscriber?
I switch names between me and my spouse every year and the current subscriber got cancelled automatically because I don't use their equipment. I don't call in to cancel. It's a PIA to talk to these xfinity customer agent.

Did it last year with no issues. Except I had to call to cancel the second account. They were confused on how I had two. But they knew they had to cancel one. And signed up this time the same way.

Just set it up as a new account under a different name. They don't care.
They don't care, but the credit check might care.

I find the autopay requirement highly annoying, like going back in time 15 years. With everything set up as E-bills at my bank it's better organized and clear when everything is getting paid. Instead, I have to remember when the Xfinity and T-mobile autopays happen. Less control and clarity for the customer but fewer headaches for them from the people who 'forget' to pay.

What is this wifi equipment included? I have the latest docsis modem and a gigabit router. I don't really need any of their equipment. Also can I cancel my account at 430 pm eastern time and then have my parents sign up an hour later? With nobody coming to install it? My mom works from home and can't have no internet for days. Currently I have their 800 Meg plan for sixty bucks a month last 27 months. No contract. No phone included.
They provide a wireless gateway (modem + router combo). If you don't want their equipment, you don't have to take it. You can use your own modem/router as you please. Just note, many areas are now in the mid-split (aka next gen internet) so if you don't have a current modem you won't see improved upload speeds. And no, you can not successfully cancel and install same day...it's possible, but highly likely to not be successful.

Do you have to take the mobile line?
No you don't.
Quote from MagentaLumber9827 :
No, but that potentially requires using their modem, which among other things also provides a public wifi hotspot. When their support could not get their modem activated on my line, my service went back to capped. My 3rd party modem works great, delivering consistent speed a little higher than what my plan promises.
Highly recommend the Hitron Coda56 if you want the latest and greatest. Using your own modem does not put you back on capped internet though, it's still unlimited.

Also, any current customers who have a store nearby should stop by and see what deals they have for current customers. Mention to them you saw these new customer deals and would like to take advantage of them. Most of the time they can rebundle you into one of their retention or loyalty plans.

I did this earlier this year to get the unlimited data and it was maybe $10 off from their new customer prices and still $50 cheaper than I was paying before.

I am so glad I got away from these vampires last year. Now I pay $49.99 for 10gig up/down no data caps. To be fair the best I've seen in a speed test is 7.9gb up and 8.6gb down but still. I also needed all new equipment lol

Asking since you seem you might know - is a Docsis 3.1 all that is needed for this next gen you speak of? I dropped Xfinity a few years back due to balloon in cost and went with Cheaper T-Mobile wireless internet, good speeds but the latency kills when I game...

Buuut if I can lock in 5 years of good price with Xfinity I still have two Docsis 3.1 modems (Arris S33 and a Netgear CM1200) that are both Docsis 3.1 - wouldnt that work just fine or is that old tech and I should be looking for something different?) I see the one you mentioned appears to be a Docsis 3.1 as well.

Great deal, we were paying $60 for 600mb so wil definitely switch to this. Also if you stall out on a purchase screen and try to exit or cancel it will add a $50 gift card to sweeten a deal which I was able to get, and 1 year of xfinity mobile
