It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Did they add an extra $15 fee at checkout?
Nope. They didn't. Additionally, someone from Xfinity called and confirmed the new order and said they will auto cancel my existing one when I receive the equipment for new one..

My order review page had "Promotional Discount:$50 Virtual Prepaid Card" but the confirmation page didn't mention it.
Where do you add it?

I think you have to take the mobile line (free not counting fees, surcharges and taxes) to get this price. You also have to keep it for one year but then you should be able to cancel and keep $50/mont for internet price for 4 more years, at least this is how i understand TOC
You don't need to take mobile line. I did this last year without mobile line.

I added it as a promo code. There was a box on the right side of the screen for it on desktop web. It was on the 1st and 2nd order pages at the least.

That's false. You can read on their website now, the plan itself has unlimited data, it's not dependent on having the additional equipment addon. For any new Xfinity plan, it has unlimited data now. It's only older plans that have a data cap.

Glad to know, maybe Xfinity just want to sell me the $30 data package. I hate Xfinity but it is the only one we got in my zipcode.

Only downside I'm seeing so far is that at least for me, the upload speeds is less at checkout than on the initial offer page. 35 vs 117.
AND the modem pictured in the confirmation is a black one that looks older and might not actually be capable of the 117 like the current gateway I'm using now, which is the white once currently supplying uploads over 117.
Any one's confirmation show the same older gateway?

Seconding that the mobile line sign up is NOT required. I didn't have to decline anything - just don't add it, and it gives you the OPTION to activate it after the internet is complete.

"New Unlimited mobile line must be purchased within 90 days" means that to be eligible for the FREE LINE promo (not the discounted Gig Internet promo) you need to start the mobile service within 90 days of the Internet sign up. Nothing happens if you don't sign up for mobile.

I'm seeing the self install kit for $4.99 at checkout (3-5 day shipping) otherwise I can choose for them to do the professional install appointment for free ? Is that what's showing for everyone?
