It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Wow that sounds like exactly what I would like to accomplish. I think we are almost two months into the (5) year $65 promo so hopefully that's still new enough to get them to match. I really don't want to cancel and resign up and swap out XB8 modems, etc.
Any luck with Chat getting them to price match to $50 from your $65? I am almost the same situation, I got the $65 1 gig 5year lock a few months ago. I have had their XB7 for the last several years on various 1gig promo plans, am a Diamond customer. Don't really want to go through account/gateway etc swap.

Which # from xfinity will call? Is that the typical 1-800-xfinity or something else?
not 1-800, it was from comcast office from my state. initially thought it was a spam call but picked it up since i just placed an order using my existing account. they wanted to confirm the cancellation of my existing connection.

i don't see the second account number in billing but i have a record of that. i told them to cancel my old account and it looks like they are still processing it (still connected to internet).
Their process is not very fast. the order confirmation email has you new account#. make clear in the chat to remove the modem mac# from old account since you like me have your own modem and want to reuse it on new account. if the chat rep(for me chat rep did it) wants to add modem to new account fine if not using the xfinity app to activate modem back on new account.

Linked the new account under my wife name. Then went to store to cancel the old one and same day received my Xfinty modem activated it when got home. It went well got it connected. Next day decided to used my own s33 activated it via Apps, no problem connected online. But here is the confusing part. I cant restart my s33 or do any Xfinity assistant on the App and same in web log in. So i got help assitant via text, and fix the problem. They made changes on my account took out the the codes using their modem, and added the codes for using your own modem voila problem solve. So if you order with gateway from them and decided to used your own modem. And run into same problems. You know what to do. Thank Ops repped!

i'm going to try that route if cancellation doesn't fix it.
Cancellation won't be instant. this is the link xfinity.com/myplan from oder confirmation, once login to account it will show your address with 2 options. 1st for previous plan and 2nd for current plan.

if you used s33 on your account before it needs to be removed first before it can be used again on your new account.

That was wild. Chatted with an agent online who said she thought I would qualify even though I was an existing customer. She connected me to someone on the phone who agreed, said he would apply the promotion, and then the line disconnected while on hold.

Turns out he canceled my account entirely.

Got back on with a different agent, she registered me back for internet at the new promotional rate, verified that my mobile lines weren't affected and I should be set for 5 years. Painful, but I'll take the lower price.

Do you have to use the Peacock Premium with flex? Is there a way to use the login on any device?

Just wanted to say a couple things as a long time Comcast/Xfinity subscriber

1. For anyone on the fence, this is a great deal if you don't mind putting up with Comcast. I'd highly doubt it will ever go any lower.
2. They don't have data caps on these plans anymore. It's unlimited.
3. If you can, use your own equipment (modem and router).
4. Get this 1Gbps plan and do not get the 2Gbps plan because 99% of people will not need that plan or be able to take advantage of it. And you might think, but we have gamers in the house and people streaming movies at the same time and so on...it doesn't matter. This plan is more than enough for that. If you get the other plan you're just going to throw away an extra $20/month.
5. You don't have to get their mobile line at all and I'd again suggest that you don't. Don't give them any power to overcharge/erroneously charge on things because it's what they do....all the time.

The only real catch is that you have to do auto pay and paperless billing, otherwise this deal is $60 per month (which still isn't bad imo).
I'm on $25 a month deal from 2 years ago. I need to upgrade by march next year. Hope they bring back the same deal in next few months.

What happens if I missed a call since it showed as spam on my phone? It left a very vague vm saying they need to talk to me about xfinity.com order for my address to authorize any change of service. But, if you search that caller ID it showed as spam. Do I need to call back the official 800-xfinity # for this case or just wait and see once I got new equipment?

I called, talked to retentions they said they couldn't do it. I told them i wanted to cancel. They asked why, I said because you won't do it. I told them I'm going to cancel and call back to sign up again as a new customer to get the rate. They told me that won't work. I said watch me. They put me on hold. Came back said they'll do it via making a new account for me.

So i guess they did the same thing I would have done but with a bit less of me calling them? .. idk. Thanks OP!

PS: The agent sounded like a robot. I asked for a human and they told me they were a human and their system makes them sound weird. .. I don't know if i believe them.

They want to arrange installation... I can't skip that even though I have their 400 speed plan now... Last time they came and damaged my soffit... I wish they don't need to come to do the installation again 😔

I am not even sure if I want to try and upgrade my existing service and deal with customer service, or just cancel and sign up under a family member's name.

Will it still work if I have a 500 Mbps plan now? Any idea if my current service will be interrupted until I receive the new equipment?
