This 16 inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro stands out for its mini LED display, strong speakers, and workstation cooling, making it especially appealing for media, editing, and desktop replacement use. The chip still feels fast for everyday work, with plenty of headroom for Parallels, VMs, Docker, and other heavier tasks, and the 16GB and 512GB configuration is viewed as practical for most users. The main concern is refurbished condition, especially battery cycles, cosmetic wear, and unknown internal wear. The return window and included Allstate warranty help reduce that risk, and the current price is widely framed as strong value if the battery is decent.

  • If you want a larger, higher-quality mini‑LED display and better built-in speakers for movies/video and photo/video editing, this is a good fit because commenters say the 16" M1 Pro has a major screen advantage and "considerably better" audio than an M4 MacBook Air, making media more enjoyable.

  • If you're buying refurbished but want risk-reducers like returns and a warranty, this can make sense because commenters point to seller-paid return shipping (30 days) and a 1-year Allstate warranty as ways to "just return it" if it's bad.

  • If you're using the laptop as a daily/travel machine where you still want strong performance for everyday work plus heavier tasks like VMs/Docker, this is a solid choice because multiple commenters say the M1 Pro 16" stays capable for years and they notice big differences for audio editing, running VMs, and Docker.

  • If you want a desktop-replacement setup for home/around-the-house (and don't mind the weight and big charger), this is a good fit because commenters describe the 16" as great for occasions/carry around the house and note it's a "behemoth" that's better when you're not moving it everywhere.

  • If you're a software engineer or other professional who can work comfortably with a 75% keyboard layout (no numpad), this is a better match because one commenter uses a 75% keyboard as a software engineer and wouldn't want to cram it into a laptop with a numpad.

  • If you're okay treating the deal as "try it and return if the battery is bad," this is a reasonable bet because one commenter suggests using the return window to test battery health and returning if it's truly bad, while still calling the laptop great at this price.

  • If you're very sensitive to cosmetic condition or missing accessories, this is not ideal because commenters describe refurbished units that can arrive with issues like scratches/dings, debris under the keyboard, or missing original charger/MagSafe cable, and they caution against sellers using non-actual product images.

  • If you need a perfect battery health experience from day one, this is not ideal because commenters repeatedly warn that with refurbished units you don't know the current condition/cycle count and battery wear can be hard to detect until the laptop starts failing.

  • If you're expecting the same portability as a MacBook Air, this isn't ideal because commenters call the 16" M1 Pro "a behemoth," hard to handle/carry daily, and specifically complain about the large 140W wall wart for travel.

  • If you're buying from a seller that may mislabel grades or use "fake refurbished" units, this is not ideal because commenters warn that some listings mix reconditioned/graded units and can differ in battery health and charger/warranty, recommending "like new" refurb as the safest option at this price.

  • If you're buying primarily for fanless thermals under sustained heavy CPU/GPU load, this may disappoint because one commenter says fanless MacBook Air throttling can be a dealbreaker for heavier simultaneous tasks, implying the Air alternative is the wrong direction for that use case (and the Pro's value is tied to cooling).

  • If you're trying to maximize value by comparing against newer base models, this may not be ideal because one commenter says they can't justify jumping on another 16GB model when base models from M4 onward are described as matching this performance.

This seller (sold out) has an insanely high 99.9% positive feedback rating. That's ridiculously high, for this sort of business. The deal did have a Allstate 1 year warranty, Allstate bought square trade.

A lot of sellers of refurbished stuff have 99% rating, nothing exceptional in this specific seller.

Are you being unaware on purpose? 99.1 is 9x as much bad feedback as 99.9. If we walk you through basic math, 99.9 is around 1 in a 1000, where 99.1 is *NINE* in a thousand.

Just it case you think that sounds like the same thing, 99.1% a dissatisfaction rate that is 900% greater. 99.5% is 500% greater dissatisfaction rating.

In ~60,000 received feedback, ~60 left negative possibly as little as 31 due to rounding. Assuming the Ebay stats are correct, 13yrs and 235k transactions is a very long run to have such a high feedback rating.

If sellers feedback is 99.2 the neg feedback is ~480.

You're still building the entire argument on a misread and some inflated math. The seller is 99.8, not 99.9, so your 9× / 9 per 1,000 point simply doesn't apply here. 99.8 vs 99.9 is 0.2% vs 0.1% roughly 2 per 1,000 vs 1 per 1,000. That's not 1/5 territory, it's a marginal difference. Also, I sanity checked the market sellers listing the same refurb/used MacBooks are typically 99.6–99.8. So 99.8 isn't an outlier it's the normal band for this category from good sellers. The real question is what's the return policy, warranty coverage, and what do the recent negatives actually say? One seller can be 99.9 with a nasty pattern (wrong model, MDM lock, battery not as described, return friction), and another can be 99.6 with a bunch of shipping delay noise and still be safer to buy from. I have been selling on eBay for 12 years with ~11k sales (I closed my business 2 years ago). At scale, you will always get some negatives. What matters is whether there's a systemic pattern and whether the seller makes things right. So I'm evaluating policy + recent complaint pattern, not cherry-picking a percentage and turning it into a "gotcha."

P.S: Im not saying this seller is bad, I think its quite good, but not as exceptional as you described them. Im talking in general that there are others with great rating as well.

The rating changed since I posted this. More proof 99.9 is exceptional? Of course. You keep talking, go find any other refurbished seller with 99.9% positive Since you can't, of course, maybe stop talking.

Edit: Obviously, the seller can reset accounts to game the system, so it must be restricted to 5 year sellers with say over 50k sales, 10k feedback.

You wouldn't have come on here and make false statements, then cry about "butthurt" when someone proves your statements wrong, would you???

Quality of posters (who try to act knowledgeable!) is going down. This is a seller with 54000 feedback 99.9% positive and offers free returns. Condition will be as stated, "Signs of wear do not affect the normal use/functions of the item. Does not come in its original packaging."

Also, the idea someone else put forwards that the $2500 2021 16" Macbook Pro dropped in value to $400 is laughable.
This seller sells actual reconditioned macbook excellent 99% A+ and C grade certified used mislabeled as refurbished. Buyer Beware, i had purchase from tek deals for like new M1 Max 64gb, came in exactly as describe . Read carefully as these ebay wholesaler sell three different grades at similar price and check customer feedback on exact models. For this price reconditioned like new with warranty is the safest option. A beatup Used MacBook for $500-1500 is too risky, i be pissed as for a little more you get close to new brand MacBook.
A+ Real Refurbished & Recondition - 99% Battery Health, white box, original oem charger , warranty By Apple Certified, eBay Select, Woot, Amazon Select.
Excellent Gold Grade
B- Fake Refurbished, Certified Used - 80% Battery Health, fake charger, warranty - AVOID 50/50.
Junk Grade
By eBay, Amazon

Retailer have stop using misleading refurbished, renew labels. You can file complaints to FTC & FCC, State AG.
