Polly Walker was so hot in this. I was a teenager when this came out.. my God what I would have given to have been an extra on that set!
Good show. It's sad that HBO cancelled it because it was "too expensive" followed by making other shows shortly after that were far costlier to produce.

Been a long long time since I've seen it. But recall really liking the first season.
The second? Not so much. Seemed rushed, with far too much major history happening (as if they had a 5-season arc but knew they were in jeopardy of cancellation). And leads became a bit too much like Forest Gump in terms of Roman history for my tastes.
