Out of curiosity, why blurays are considered a deal when most people have likely upgraded to 4k tvs. Or many rely on upscaling ?

For me, the higher the resolution, the harder it becomes to distinguish much of a clarity difference. Dvd to Blu-ray was a pretty noticeable leap. Blu-ray to 4k is noticeable, but less so. Also, 4k players are still stupid expensive, inexplicably, so despite 4k televisions being pretty standard, 4k is in still somewhat cost prohibitive. That includes 4k streaming which requires a pretty fast Internet speed (more $$$) and a monthly uptick on streaming service cost. Therefore, the high cost of 4k keeps it from becoming as standard in usage as the 4k screens on the tvs.

I actually cannot stand how dark the hdr picture in 4k becomes compared to the blue ray version on my 2 year old lg oled so I always go with blueray over 4k. Visually it feels better as it's brighter and sound is same on both discs and sound makes the movie imo

Like vinyl is to music, bluray is the optimal viewing experience for 20th century movies.

Because 3 blu-ray movies under $10 is a deal, where do you ever see 3 movies in 4k under $10?
