I wonder how the increasing prices of RAM will affect other last gen parts such as AM5 processors and motherboards. Personal example, I'm completely happy with my 5800x3d AM4 and don't plan on upgrading to AM5 until computer parts pricing comes back to reality. BTW, I'm talking to you, too, video card industry.

I'm just getting back to looking at parts and prices. Are all prices computer parts higher than normal or just ram?

I think RAM prices are going to turn away a lot of people from upgrading from AM4 to AM5. Even if mobo prices and CPU prices come down.

At this point I'm honestly thinking about just adding more DDR4 RAM to my two AM4 PCs I have. I would have never dreamed of investing any more money into my current builds, but it could be awhile before DDR5 RAM prices come down.

I am happy with my 3yr old 5800x3d + 128g ddr4, probably will hold on to it for many more years.

At this point no sense in going AM5. AMD claims support into 2027. Might aswell wait till the next socket comes.

Not much the 7800 can do that my 5600 can't do. I think few people are building AM4 systems these days. Hence the falling prices. I've never actually every put a newer, faster CPU into a system before. By the time I get the need to upgrade, I've always gone for a new architecture that is much faster.

The news of Micron's shutdown consumer market RAM made you even more depressed about sky-high RAM prices.

I was looking forward to the New 9850X3D, soon to be released by AMD, but the RAM prices are high, killing almost all NEW DIY PC builds in the affordable budget. Sight!!!

Oh well, just like my older in the attic OC Ivy Bridge, 16GB RAM, and RX480 bios flash to 580. The AM4EVER 5700X3D, 32GB RAM, with 3080 will serve me for many more years to come until AM6 X3D releases.

5800x3d / 5700x3d - These will cap out performance on the consumer side if you are primarily gaming. If you are more "productivity" focused the 5950X can be the better option.

I had ordered the microcenter deal of 7600x3d + mobo deal and after seeing RAM prices I just didn't go pick it up. Not gonna pay premium for RAM again like I did during my Intel 8th Gen build when I paid $170 for 16gb ddr4.
