I've owned one of these for 5 years. In my experience, the charging pins started sticking when I didn't let the base of the mug dry before setting back on the charging dock. I reached out to Ember and they replaced the base for no charge even though it had been 3 years since I purchased.

Word of warning, the 10oz size is really ~8oz useable (unless you fill it completely to the rim). This may be obvious, but it was too small for me, so now I'm ordering the 14oz...

That said, I like it well enough to buy twice. I got it from Woot about 6mos ago and appeared new in packaging, so willing to buy another at this price.

Could be, or the cup portion could have been replaced. I got the 14oz 6mo ago and it looked brand new and I love it.

I am an avid coffee drinker; brew my own pour overs every day. I am incredibly picky about coffee temperature; etc. I bought this mug through costco awhile back; and just have to say; this felt like the biggest waste of tech I've ever bought. Yep it does what it says it does; but holy cow I do not want to think about having to charge my coffee mug. Yes i hate microwaving coffee; but I preferred it over this experience. Just my $.02. Has nothing to do with the deal itself; if you want it buy it!

You literally just place it on the dock after you wash it

I have the gen 1. Worst user experience ever. Bluetooth will always have issues, the mug will not automatically link to your phone. Constant disconnects and issues where it thinks your cup is empty so it won't heat your drink... I got it as a gift and already threw it out- not worth giving it to someone you care about.

Love the mug, but the charging pins easily get stuck and stop connecting. Be aware if you're not comfortable soldering.

Wow after three years? I got one replaced through them and repaired twice on my own twice. Spilling coffee is the worst

What is the mug body/inside composed of? Are these basically made of "food grade" plastic material? Would these leach harmful chemicals due to heating?
