Got one of these at Costco for $1000 a couple years ago. Fantastic TV. Has the excellent XR processor, and that wonderful Sony color. Don't regret my purchase for a second. This is $200 cheaper! There are now some OLEDs starting to move down closer to this price range, so it's a tougher call now than when I purchased. But I don't think you'll regret buying one for $800, I wouldn't.

Bought one of these a few years ago. Idle energy usage is 35watts almost as much as my fridge at 50watts. Tried all fixes official and unofficial with no luck.

That's not something many think about but important to consider. How does that compare to other similar size TVs?

I have a 55 inch version of this TV and it will often show more detail in dark scenes than more expensive TVs. Sony's picture processing is second to none.

I just got a Bravia 8 OLED in this size. I love the picture and most ever about it is great, but I'm infuriated that they inexplicably withheld their Timeshift feature in some markets, so it has no way to pause OTA tv. Every $100 TCL or Onn Roku TV from Walmart can do that. So given how much everyone seems to love the X90L I'm considering buying one and either selling or repurposing the Bravia 8, since I watch a lot of sports with an antenna. This model can pause love TV, right?

I have a hisense 65" in a different room that idles at 0.5 to 3 watts. Not a typo. That is more normal which is why I have such an issue recommending the Sony. 55inch Samsung sits at 3 watts.

Thanks for the info. I have had great success with Sony TVs but wow that's wild idle energy use.

Bought this back in 2023 for $1k. Love it, no problems with the OS or remote, movies look great streaming and Blu-ray, live sports is perfect for me.

Easy to get it under 2 by enabling power saving mode, turning off auto updates for google and Sony and switching the remote from Bluetooth to IR.

For sure, I turn off auto updates on most media devices. Sony TVs have always lasted well for us. Not had the same success with most other brands we got for relatives.

All those have been completed. Power saving is more for when the TV is on not off. Auto updates also is just an occasional internet connection which unless you turn off all network capabilities it will do anyway regardless of auto updates.

That's just what I did and it was drawing under 2 after I restarted.
