How does it compare to coffee makers in this price range? I've never heard of them making coffee makers.
I had it. It makes great coffee but the carafe is very flimsy and if you wash it in dishwasher will crack and it costs a ton to replace. Would not recommend.
in our four offices the glass coffee carafe kept breaking so the management opted for stainless steel carafe. The office I work was the last one to break the glass carafe. Glass carafe replacement was only 20 dollars but still they'd rather get stainless steel. The receptionist bought the Bunn model csb3t, Incredibly it made the best office coffee of all the offices. All used the same coffee brands and same filter. But it does cost 200 dollars.

If you're looking to improve your coffee game, use a stainless carafe instead of a glass one with a hotplate.
Glass carafes sit on the hotplate and cook your coffee as long as the machine is on. That's how it keeps it "warm" and it ruins your coffee.
If you go to a machine that uses a stainless carafe (and importantly, no hotplate) it'll keep the coffee warm by insulation. It works by preventing the coffee from losing heat rather than constantly adding heat.
I drink a pot of coffee a day and a stainless carafe keeps my coffee drinkably hot for 8 hours.
Otherwise pretty much every coffee machine works the exact same way and are virtually indisttiguishable from one another. They boil water and the steam pressure forces that boiling water through a little tube up to the coffee basket where it drips onto the grounds, seeps through, and into your container.
I have this. Makes great coffee and honestly I've replaced the charcoal filter maybe twice - always used PUR filtered water.
The carafe hasn't broken but I don't handwash it. I broke too many a bodum glassware before I learned handwashing was higher risk in our house.
