If your windows have any issues with insulation, or you have high humidity where your windows fog, then these window films will start to break down and flake off.

I did a set of 4 5' windows this summer. Not easy because of the length, and the windows being as tall as I am, and having to carry the film from the cutting table to the window without it folding over on itself (never, ever let that happen) - with 2 people it would have been a lot easier in retrospect. It was a very "wet" project, to avoid bubbles you really have to keep the window very wet, and unfortunately one roll had a flaw so I see a crease and that bugs me as well. But... the film cut down the heat from the sun mid-day immensely. It was very worth it. Even with a Cooleroo roll down shade inside the house, it was a hotbox. However, if I could go back in time, I think I would have chosen a removable rather than a permanent adhesive film if I could find one comparable. In the winter, the heat from the sun would be a benefit but...it's a permanent film. The privacy aspect is also pretty great - it does work as intended and it isn't very noticeable at all. The project itself took me an entire day, I think 2 people could do it a lot quicker.
