- Phone sales tax- due at sign up.
- Monthly Taxes. Like someone mentioned can be as high as $9/line per month
- Activation fees. Apparently $40 per line, but maybe you can get waived?
- Verizon has historically said allow 1-2 billing cycles for discounts to appear. Well, if they don't appear be prepared to spend multiple calls and hours to try and get them to honor their agreement.
- This service plan is the lowest unlimited so don't get the ultra wideband (faster 5g) or hot spot.
- to take full advantage of the discount you have to keep the lines for 3 years. That's a long time to be locked in. Theoretical scenario: if you pulled all 4 lines out after 2 years would owe around $1500 for the phone pay offs.
While a good price, I think they are trying to get you to sign up, and then bc you'll be frustrated with the lower plan will upgrade at a significant cost ($40/line instead of $25).

Total charges per line = $9.29
It's still a really good deal if you're in the market for new iPhones

The rep told me that the $25/month is for BYOD + autopay. Mine should be $30/month per line. We'll see. Either way, I'm saving money and getting the latest iPhones. Win/win!
Only taxes were due today: $90.75 x 4 = $363
The rep also told me that the $25/mo is for BYOD + autopay, so I should expect to pay $30/mo per line. It's still cheaper than I'm paying now, so should be a net win!

I have currently (4 lines) on EIP with TMobile with their entry level unlimited plan. The installments will be completed by Jul '26. My monthly bill is $190.
Does it make sense to switch to Verizon ? Do they have any other promotion which can be stacked with this promotion? Not that I need a new phone, but if I can get new phones with less monthly bill, that will be great.
So in 6 months I'm free and clear to do whatever I want , or stuck with Big Red for another 2 years if you do nothing.
It makes more sense to go with visible/USM for effectively $15-$25/mo for the highest tier of service because a lot of these ATT/Verizon promos only offer the "starter" service (which is fine if you're not in congested areas or use Wi-Fi calling frequently)
You would be surprised how many people forget to change companies, switch, re-quote auto insurance every 6 months, forget to turn off subscriptions, etc...
I have seen it even with my "smart" friends who have advanced degrees - they'll have 5-6 subscriptions pulling $150+ monthly and they dont remember signing up for or what they even do and they say "i'll get to it later". This is what companies rely on. Someone signs up for the promo and stays even when price goes up... or signs up without reading fine print and ends up "violating" the contract and paying a fee
Because my family only needs three lines, and I prefer iPhone 17 pro, so I bought 3 lines at Costco in the last hour on 12/03 with Essential Beyond plan, $170/month for 3 lines.
$1000 off each phone, 3x$450 gift card.
The total cost over two years is: 170*24 + 300 (3 x iPhone 17 Pro 1100-1000) - 450*3 = 3030. In the third year, based on current mint prices, three lines cost 540 per year, bringing the total cost over three years to 3570, get 3 iPhone 17 Pros.
Verizon: 100*36 + 160 (activation fee) - 300 gift card = 3460, and 4 iPhone 17 Pros.
The total cost is close. T-Mobile has the Experience Beyond plan, which offers some additional benefits.
Regarding Verizon, even if I buy four phones, I'll just leave the fourth one gathering dust in a drawer. I don't know how much value an extra phone will have after three years; some people might resell it through other channels.

This is for kids and I'd rather them not find out before Christmas.
