Bought this when it first popped up. Came in clutch during Thanksgiving. Worked really well for my use case. Pretty slick where if you use it in app mode you can load target temp either manual or by a preset and it tries to predict how long it would take. For the Turkey it was a little off but I manually loaded a target temp (not sure if that made a difference)

The only thing is the thermometer has multiple sensors and you need to put the thermometer in pretty deep

can you add a 2nd probe to the unit, or does it have to be a model that comes with more probes from the start?
(models with 2 probes cost 2-3x as much and use a different home/base than this single probe model.)
I purchased two single probes last deal and connected them in the app . No problem.

The app for this kinda frustrates me... It periodically fails to connect to the Thermomaven servers over IPv6 and the only solution that's worked for me is releasing and renewing my modems connection. I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this

I'd be interested if someone else could repeat the experiment I did with mine; right now I'm not convinced it's actually any good. I've tried heating different spots on the probe (tip, middle, other end before ceramic), and the "middle" readings always significantly lag the tip and end. For instance, if you take a hot spoon, and touch the middle, the tip and end readings will be hotter than the middle reading, even allowing some time for stuff to adjust. Or, if you dip the tip in hot water, the tip responds first, followed by the other end, followed by the middle.Either it's miswired, or perhaps the central probe doesn't have good contact with the probe body, making them useless.Perhaps my unit is just faulty, but I'm a bit miffed either way. But yeah, if someone could try the same experiment I'd be grateful.
Arriving late today and will test this using hot water. Have a normal digital meat probe and infrared gun to compare to.

If you are wanting a budget probe, sure give this a try. If you are wanting something very substantial, look into thermoworks wireless probes. They cost more but highly accurate and rugged.
fact!

i've had one of these for a few weeks now and have used it multiple times including in the thanksgiving turkey. The temp of the item being cooked seems to be pretty accurate but I have one big gripe... The ambient temperature reading is inaccurate and not by a little bit, so only one of the two temperature monitors work properly. Disappointing and I do not recommend.. (This will be going back to Amazon)

Deal description has an error, the max external temperature is 752°F, not 932°F. The difference may make a difference in the longevity of the device if you use for it includes the risk of a flare up. I had the original Meater and later the Meater plus which had a max temperature of 527°F. Getting an alarm of a near instant alarm of flare up give you a chance save the food from being ruined. Unfortunately the flare can raise the outside temp to more than 700° fairly fast. The new Meater Pro has a 1000° limit so it's gone through flare ups without getting close to that range before the flareup was put out. Hopefully ThermoMaven's next version will have a higher temp.

Thanks for the heads up. The error has been fixed.

Immediately returned from last deal. Internal temp was off 20 degrees and ambient over 50.
Are you sure your oven temp was accurate?
