LG's 45 inch UltraGear OLED stands out as a huge 5K2K gaming and desktop monitor with sharp 125 PPI, and the price around $999 made it feel like a strong value versus earlier purchases near $1400 to $1620. The panel is still described as the best monitor ever owned, but text can look terrible on macOS and the built in fan has been noisy enough to trigger coil whine complaints. A few orders and promo attempts also failed or were later cancelled, so the deal window and checkout behavior looked unstable. A compelling big screen OLED if you can live with the noise and software quirks.

Common Questions (5)

  • The $999.99 price appeared to work briefly, but the coupon/code later stopped being found and some completed orders were cancelled by LG. If you can still check out at the lower price, it may be temporary rather than a stable live deal.

  • The 45-inch 5K2K panel has better pixel density than a 42-inch OLED, which can make the desktop feel sharper and wider. Text can still be problematic on macOS, so the upgrade is not automatically better for every setup.

  • The promo code did not work for some regular accounts and could return "We couldn't find this code." It also failed for some users even after trying both new and old accounts.

  • It can produce fan noise and coil whine, and noise-sensitive buyers may want to avoid it. The monitor has also been returned for that reason even though the panel itself is highly regarded.

  • It has been reported to shut down repeatedly because the power control module triggers an overheating shutdown, even without dust or ventilation issues. LG has processed replacements quickly, with around a 10-day turnaround in one case.

Checkout page said $1,000 after coupon but once i checked out it said $1,500 so I had to cancel.
Wow seriously? I ran back to check and also checked my credit card and it was $999 plus tax for me. That lasted like 15 minutes!

I bought this at day one and I have returned it twice so far.
The first monitor started to shut down every few seconds to a minute within the first month. It turns out the power control module (LG tech rep words) failed and the monitor would turn off for what the monitor thought was overheating. The replacement monitor lasted 2 months and started doing the same thing. I am on the third monitor now and the LG reps I spoke to quickly processed my claim with little question as if it was super common with my model. Keep in mind I have no dust issues, or ventilation issues and my office is kept at 74F.
I am on my 3rd monitor now. I love the monitor, but I keep having to break out an older Odyssey 4k as I wait for the fix or replacement to arrive. LG has been good though and fairly quick with 10 day turnaround on average. Also, I have had 4 or 5 LG monitors in the recent past and they all have run fine with no issues. My Kids both have 2k LG monitors and those have been running fine for over a year. No shade on LG, but just insight based on my experience for this particular model.

Damn. Have a 24% cb as well and chase 5% cb through PayPal. So tempting. Just not sure what to do with the current 42" lg oled c2 I'm using as a monitor.
24? Where?

Man I really want to love this deal but PPI 125. Looking for something > 140 and wider
Are there any 34" or greater OLED monitors with higher than 125 ppi?

I'm eyeing the Samsung Neo G9. It's now $1300. But it's still too expensive. I think I will bite at $1000 like this LG one

I was one that had successfully placed an order before this deal was "dead" and I just got an email that LG cancelled my order.

Me too. Today I received email from LG that my order ($1000) was cancelled. The only difference is I did not use the promo code in this post but I used a code from a promotional email from LG.

I called their number and asked why my order was cancelled, and they said they cancelled all of these orders due to a "system glitch".

Used my own code and received a cancel email last night. Going to call LG today. Anyone able to reinstate their order with the promo applied?

I also used my own code (not the code posted in this post but the unique code I received in email), and my order was cancelled. I called LG yesterday and over the phone they said the cancellation was a "system glitch" and they "would help me reinstate the promo code via email or text". But I highly doubt that.

I'm sorry! My order was cancelled as well. 😭 So frustrating!
I placed the order again with the following "deals", though not nearly good as the original promo code...
  1. promo code RMN15 for 15% off ($225 off)
  2. targeted Capital One Shopping 19% offer
  3. Paypal with Chase Freedom for 5% cash back
To get the targeted C1 Shopping offer, add the extension to your browser, login/create C1 Shopping account, etc. Then login to the LG site and pull up the monitor, then "activate" the C1 rewards on the LG site using the extension (usually a 4% or 5% rewards rate), then add the monitor to your cart. Usually after around 12 or 24 hours you'll receive an targeted email from C1 Shopping with an elevated rewards rate for the product you were interested in. Obviously YMMV in terms of what your targeted rewards % will actually be.
