I think this deal is good if you have Amazon prime, I think I'd still pay at least $10 shipping anywhere else. Amazon credit card helps with tax too.

I placed a preorder for this on Amazon in Sept for $122.37, and it got shipped last week right before Thanksgiving. I can't get a price adjustment for $32.37 nor return it, this sucks Frown

What's the potential of good playing cards in these packs? Or is it more about the fun of opening them?

Asking as someone who doesn't play.

For people that don't know, theirs a jump starter and play booster box. Jump starter is more for beginners and building a deck which is pre determined for the most part which cards you get (20 cards per pack, 7 of them being land cards). The play Booster which is around $140-150, gives your 14 random cards, it's more for collectors, but you can build a deck out of it. Also the jump starter is missing some variants of cards like foil.

Jumpstart packs can be fun. As everyone gets random decks. You get 2 packs of 20 to make a 40 card deck. You can also look up the packs online and separate the packs after playing, so you can keep having random deck battles.

So these are going to be Eternal-Legal which for most people means they will use them for the Commander format which is easily the most popular format. If you're getting into Magic, Commander is probably the easiest way to get in since it's more of a casual format. However, I would probably get a pre-constructed deck (pre-con) and upgrade it as you go along.
That being said, these boosters do have some good cards for Commander, but I think that the best thing about them is that they're a way to start learning and playing Magic immediately. Essentially, you and your opponent each get 2 booster packs, open them up and shuffle them together to make your decks. Each jumpstart booster pack contains 20 cards that revolve around a theme and color, they also include lands (which are required in almost any deck) so you can start playing immediately.
If you got Play boosters (standard booster packs, previously called draft boosters) then you would get maybe 1 or 2 random colored lands and a random assortment of cards. Even if you grab more lands separately, it'll take about 6 packs to make a cohesive deck and you'd have to already have a good idea of how the cards synergize in order to make something at least moderately competitive/fun.
Jumpstart is by far the fastest way to get into playing Magic physical cards. If you want to learn how to play Magic in general, I would recommend trying out Magic Arena which is a casual digital format of Magic which uses the same mechanics (not to be confused with Magic Online which is a paid service). Arena will teach you the basics and allow you to learn the game without having to keep track of all statuses, effects, life totals, interactions, etc that make Magic confusing for new players. While it's technically free to play and there are a lot of people who play and don't spend any money, there are a lot of paid aspects of it including entering into tournaments or opening packs to get specific cards. I never got into it, but nearly everyone that I know who plays Magic either started with Arena or started playing Arena shortly after playing in-person for the first time.
If you have friends that play Magic and have been looking for a way to get into it, and if $90 isn't out of your holiday gift budget, I would buy it and as a gift ask your friends to teach you how to play.

Maybe pricing has adjusted? I'm seeing $97 on Amazon and $99 at the other link someone posted.
