People won't play with this color, FYI. They'll ask to switch. It's like if showed up to a tennis court with red tennis balls.

Well worth $10. If you offer this ball, you'll never have to pay for one again. Everyone will volunteer their own.

I used these. I get funny looks sometimes. But it bounces and feels exactly the same as the yellow ones, which everyone prefers. good deal.

That is true as well. I recently went to a "teacher supply" warehouse in the Bay Area, where companies donate all types of random crap. There were barrels or cracked X-40's for sale. .25 each. I guess it'd be good for science projects, or maybe even a ball machine for drills. Majority of them were minor cracks.

First time I've seen it, and maybe it's common elsewhere, but people had put in Sharpie their phone numbers on the balls.

Thanks OP! I bought a net with wheels for the driveway off amazon, so these are going to be great for us to practice with our girls!

If a couple decides to start playing together (next year when it is warmer), how many pickleballs should they have on hand? Thanks,

12 is plenty. You won't be cracking them easily when it's warmer. Plus if you play doubles, most other players will have the yellow balls they prefer to play. I typically bring 2 or 3 in my bag when I go play.

If you are new to the sport, understand that this is a much more serious topic than you might expect.
A single neon yellow/green ball is more valuable than 12 pink balls that wont get any play. There's a reason why alternative colors are so cheap.

My account had a $2.50 coupon that was available to clip and was useable numerous times. Maybe check if you have it too.

They're probably just joking, but don't be that stingy person. There's a community aspect to the game, especially in recreational play.

A 3-pack of balls can end up lasting a couple months because other balls get used as well. So thats like $4-10 a pack, depending on the sale.
Anything under $2/ball for neon yellow Franklin X-40's is a good deal.

If you play somewhere where the ball can be easily retrieved, you can also consider LifeTime balls (LT Pro 48). They're the ball that the pros use and are much more durable than Franklin X-40's. They also play more consistent than Franklins once broken in.

To any naysayers, the main reason people don't want to play with any other ball is because they think it's a cheap no name ball. Different brand or off brand balls bounce differently and people want a consistent bounce and franklin x40's became the standard. However most people will assume that because it's not the same color that they are different balls. I've had this same annoying conversation with tons of people when I bring out my lava x-40's. They'll cry and complain they're indoor balls with less holes or not x-40's, I'm like nope on both, it is an x-40 and it's an outdoor ball with 40 holes. I'm like, you want to count the holes? You're welcome to if you like, and that usually kills their questioning.

Another reason people don't want to play with other colors even if they are franklin x40's is that brighter colors are easier see at night. No real difference in daylight unless the ball color is similar to the court color then obviously that's no bueno but main issue is non-bright colors are harder to see at night and they have a point there. So I'd be fine with using and defending these in the day and sticking to a highlighter color ball at night.

Just a heads up.
