Glad to see this posted!

I grew up learning from an Authorized King James Bible and find the wording of other versions lacking fullness of context in places. I had a number of Bibles gifted to me as a youngster, but the one I enjoyed and read the most was the one given to me for my 12th birthday. It was this one similar to this one but didn't have the really interesting maps inserted within the Bible, they were only behind the glossary.
KJV Rainbow Study Bible, Burgundy LeatherTouch
Stock No: WW782737 $35

The color coded (Rainbow 🌈) verses and sections really helped me understand more meaningful information and tone of the Author even if I was unclear of all the details. I mimic the same limited color coding when I highlight things or add notes during sevices on my Kindle Red Letter Edition KJV Bible app now days.

This is a great deal but in my experience Christanbook.com tends to be... optimistic... in their backorder dates. So I'd have a backup plan if I were hoping to gift this for Christmas.

37 up votes and can't make frontpage... do we have anti Bible bias in our midst?

You should try a modern translation like the ESV or CSB. Not only did they use better Greek and Hebrew manuscripts than the KJV translators had available, they are just clearer translations for modern English readers.

Shows $34.99 for me
Still a good deal
They also have the NLT on sale. I find it to be a great, easy to read version in modern English (@consumeralert)

Putting aside the likelihood that neither of us will agree to the same linage of texts; reading of the English text of the KJV Bibles wasn't an issue as a youth. It was more a lack of understanding to grasp the broader context and correlations of thoughts across multiple / whole chapters or how from verse to verse the contextual meaning changes with others that a young Christian just hasn't acquired; verses the perceived easier reading of modern written English Bibles. I appreciate the preciseness, clarity, doctrinal consistency, poetic rhythm & contextual nuance the KJV has for an adult reader. I find the reading style memorable and nearly the opposite without it. It feels like I'm reading someone else's interpretation in modern English writing without the Thee's & Thou's, EST's and so forth.
The reference to the Bible I mentioned above was for aid for any reader (not beholden to KJV Bibles; I presume other translations have a color coded study Bible too) with making those connections from verse to verse for readers by way of color coding into broad categories where a verse falls into based on the color coding system. Once a reader grasps the color coding system for easy (known/understandable to them) verses, they can apply through seeing it to newly read or verses they're studying. The reader can instantly know, based on the color code, what direction they can apply their thoughts to when reading a passage of text for the first time or umpteenth time.
Hope you have Good Day and have a Merry Christmas!
