Not sure how safe Trini is. Would like to go but I have mixed feelings.

Trinidad and Tobago has significant safety concerns, with a Level 3 "Reconsider Travel" advisory from the U.S. due to high violent crime, including murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping, often gang-related, requiring visitors to exercise extreme caution and awareness, especially in urban areas and at night, while Tobago generally sees fewer violent incidents

As someone very familiar with both Trinidad and Tobago, do yourself a favour and find almost any other island in the Caribbean to visit. Trini food is the best in the Caribbean, but the place is a shit hole. Sure, there are some unique landmarks and exciting things (Caroni swamp, watching leatherbacks being born, Carnival if you're into that, and the Magnificent 7 around Queen's Park Savannah), but you have to constantly look over your shoulder, the beaches (at least in Trinidad) pale in comparison to most other places in the Caribbean, and downtown Port of Spain literally smells like a toilet.
