Samsung's S90F OLED is drawing attention as a bright, colorful QD OLED TV that stands out for gaming, upscaling, and strong SDR and HDR performance. The 77 inch model is repeatedly described as the latest model year at a standout price, with some checkout totals landing around $1,530 before tax and lower after stacked discounts. Main tradeoffs are Dolby Vision support, Samsung's DTS and app quirks, and return or warranty hassles that can erase some of the savings.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can work on some EPP accounts and on the 77-inch model, but it is reported as invalid on Education and first-responder accounts. Some shoppers also found the code removed a previously selected offer instead of lowering the total.

  • Watch the Samsung Vision AI video while signed in, then add the TV to cart; the discount can appear automatically without a separate code. Clearing cookies and using the TV & AV menu path reportedly helps when the offer does not show up.

  • The S90F is reported to be far brighter in Game Mode, more colorful, and better at handling direct reflections, while the C5 has Dolby Vision and can keep blacks darker in bright rooms. For Xbox and Dolby Vision content, the C5 has a slight edge; for brightness and QD-OLED color, the S90F does.

  • It does not support Dolby Vision, and DTS passthrough is also reported as unsupported. That means some setups may need an Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, or an external audio extractor/splitter for full media compatibility.

  • The 77-inch S90F is QD-OLED. The QD-OLED sizes called out here are the 55, 65, and 77-inch models; other sizes in the line are reported as WOLED.

So if I watch blu rays, it's better to stick to LG because of Dolby Vision support? And LG also has better gaming functions?

This or Costco deal. For 77 inch TV I paid around $1999. But Costco gives me 5 years warranty.

I feel Dolby Vision is overrated. Samsung has better OLED technology compared to LG.

Why do you think Dolby Vision is overrated? Isn't it the better technology since it's dynamic?

You're saying these S90F are better than C5s?

This is wild, I paid $1,230 on a Black Friday deal for the 65" S90D last year. How are these getting cheaper?

Correct. Costco + 5 years = 1999.00; current deal, Samsung EDD + 4 years = 1929.99

according to Rtings.com; Samsung has more accurate and vivid colors, 50% brighter and superior upscaling for non 4K content, but not DTS passthrough; whereas LG has Dolby Vision, but more of a matte screen and less vivid/accurate, andhalf the number of nits. I chose samsung for the upscaling, but I have to buy aftermarket splitter/audio extractor to get DTS passthrough-- so no eARC for me.

And will affect probably 0.5% of people here. Kind of like the microcenter deals that end up front page and almost nobody can get them because they are in store only.

It's not the price for over 99% of people here.

Because both look tewally good and you won't see any issues with Samsung hdr lol you'll love the tv regardless I have Samsung oled in my room and lg g5 in living room. G5 is the only lg tv that can compete with qdoled imo because it has better colors than the other TVs

I think this is dead, can't get to this price... $1,259.99 after education EPP. The code doesn't work, and if it did, that would bring it down to $1,134. What am I missing?

Dolby Vision is noticeably better than HDR10+. It's such a silly opinion when people say they think Dolby Vision is overrated.
