It does make sense you've just missed the point. Not everyone wants a mini phone strapped to their wrist that you have to charge every day with a huge fragile LCD on it. This is still a G shock. It's 100 bucks. Battery life of two years.

There are F-Droid apps that really enhance the Bluetooth on G-Shock watches.

Unfortunately this one isn't listed as supported yet.

It may be new as this looks a lot like the GBD-H1000 that is supported.

i dont think these really make sense. if youre going to get a smartwatch might as well get one that's fully integrated with your phone os.

From what I understand, you can wear this with or without your phone. Run without it and when it connects to your phone again it will sync the data.

No solar kills it for me. The battery can't be good if its bt connected for notifications and syncing up health data.

This watch doesn't have GPS. There are features to kind of work around it though. You are able to calibrate your watch after running with your phone GPS. The watch will then estimate distance based on arm swing without bringing the phone on runs. I am pretty sure you can sync with Strava as well
