Definitely stay away from REL. They give only a 3 year warranty because their subs are low quality and they know they dont last. One of mine developed a hum even when there is no signal. Of course I was out of warranty (just thought they would be 5 years, my mistake) but contacted to see if they can give me any help. I was hoping for a replacement amp for around cost but tgey wanted $400 plus shipping. Considering I got free shipping on the original purchase it would have cost as much for the replacement amp as the new sub cost me.

They had zero desire to help me. They give a shorter warranty so they dont have to cover the problems they create by cutting corners and they turn that into a profit maker by trying to overcharge for replacement parts. I will never buy REL again and would definitely not recommend them.

You're in for a treat. 2 of these for $1400 is a bargain - probably the best bass per dollar on the market.
I've been enjoying mine for over a year now.

No, unless the speakers are damaged. Box damage is very common with large bulky items these days as manufacturers well know, so they usually pack lots of styrofoam inside to keep the actual merchandise unscathed.

Dent on the amp though is more concerning due to the delicate nature of electronics.
That's the thing. My son is going to set these up when he comes home for Christmas. Should I just wait and see if it works? My concern is if I wait they might try to dismiss my claim.

Also do you think a small dent would impact a warranty claim down the road if I keep it and it's currently working?

The box damage isn't concerning at all, just the dented amp. Thanks for your response and assistance

Ah, that time delay makes it tricky. I would make sure that they are able to send you the replacement in time for your son's return then.

ROTFL "Smaller woofer on subs equals cleaner tighter more accurate"---spoken like the truly clueless newbie you are...a poster child for the Dunning Kruger Effect. 🤣
LOL coming from the guy that said:

"the fact that even a $340 sub like an RSL 10e comes plenty close to some comical $2000 REL sub"!!!! LMAO!

How do you know how many people believe this!?

Keep telling us how clueless you are without telling us how clueless you are!!!

Mine arrived trampled by an elephant. Sent photos to adorama per their request. Hope the replacement process isn't too long. Anyone have experience returning and replacing gear with Adorama? Do they ship the replacement when once they receive the returned sub or when UPS scans it in?

Because I know NORMAL people who do audio, not just the snooty OCD audiophool nerds like you, that's why.

See in the real world, NORMAL people who simply want to enjoy their movies and TV shows better than what they can get with soundbars or Bose or Sonos, are more than happy with a $340 10e---so why should they pay 5x as much for some REL joke-sub?

Instead of constantly jerking off your own ego, try to actually HELP people according to THEIR actual real-world needs and expectations...is that really so hard for you to understand?

Then you should look in the mirror.

The only one "boasting" they know what the "majority" of peoples needs & expectations are is you!

If you're gonna "boast" how the $340 10"(woofer) RSL "comes plenty close" to a $2000 sub in the "real-world"!!!
By all means HELP everyone out & give us more than internet babble!!!?
Is that really so hard to understand why one would ask?

Nope, I don't hang around ONLY the OCD audiphool crowd, end of story---so I don't fall for all the predictable audiophool dogmas and cliches you comically swear by. Sorry homes, you need to stick to your little snob treehouse clique, that's the only place your esoteric gibberish matters.

Then you need to hang around more NORMAL people.

There isn't one normal person that I can think of that would agree that a $340 10" woofer sub "comes plenty close" to the performance of a $2000 one!!!!

Textbook example on how owning/buying something and properly implementing it can be vastly different!!!!

Im really not getting into this. I just wanna throw out there that there that cost doesnt automatically equate to quality.

I will also say I had always been disappointed in my 2 12" Rels and their customers service is absolutely terrible.

Has jack to do with "properly implementing"---and everything to do with REL specializing in deliberately overpriced-to-impressed mediocre products aimed at gullible audiophools who have more money than sense!

Yes on both counts. In contrast, SVS is also a bit overpriced (roughly 30% more than their internet-direct competitors) but they do have world class customer service which makes up for that, rolled into the pricing of the products. I would never call SVS "the Bose of subs" for that reason---some of their stuff costs way more than it should but they actually do make solid quality/performance gear, just not offering as strong price-to-performance as Hsu, RSL, Rythmik, etc. Those also offer excellent customer service after the sale, but no "free" return shipping like SVS does---so it's a slight calculated risk.

I hope you've been able to move on from your REL subs, or do you still have them?

I have one that still works that is getting replaced with 2 of these. My amp on one is going out. They dont have confidence in their products so they only give a 3 year warranty and a bunch of people online have amp failures. I understand things happen but theor amps at least clearly had issues so you would think they would want to try to help their customers out as much as possible to keep them. But when I contacted them they wanted almost as much as I bought the subs new. It was nowhere near at cost. Their customer service team acted more like a sales team than a team trying to help a customer. They made a inferior product and they tried to make that a additional money maker for them.

Also my son is gonna be home for a few weeks so he said I should wait until we hook them up to complain about the dented amp only if it doesnt work. I sent him a picture and he said it looks pretty minor. Again I appreciate your input

God, that's terrible. Even worse than stories I've seen from Def Tech owners contacting DT when the built in "subs" in their towers died on them.

Small, word-of-mouth companies like Hsu and RSL are known to simply send you the replacement amp at very reasonable cost (I've heard $150-250 range) for DIY replacement.

REL operates by sheer distribution muscle, i.e. being sold through the last remaining nationwide big box shop that carries audio products, Best Buy---so they figure they don't need to provide decent service after the sale since they enjoy an infinite pipeline of gullible new victims with BB.
