Walmart has an Ultra 5 225F / RTX 5060 / 16GB DDR5 / 1TB SSD for the same price. I feel that's a better value.

You could make a case that an extra 16GB of RAM at today's overinflated retail prices make this a better deal. But that won't sway my opinion. If you need the extra RAM, still wait for a better deal.

The extra RAM is a huge consideration at the absurd price inflation caused by the AI bubble, but even more significant is 50% more VRAM in the B580. A 1080p card with 12GB VRAM will be viable a lot longer than anything with 8GB.

Unless I am reading this GPU Hierarchy Chart [tomshardware.com] wrong, the RTX 5060 with its 8GB of VRAM is a better card at 1080p than the B580. But ultimately it is not my battle to fight. I am not a gamer and don't care either way.

They also acknowledge that the 5060 is hard to recommend because of its paltry VRAM. Graphically demanding games will routinely crash on the 5060 if you try to run them at 1080p high settings because they run out of VRAM. Won't bother saying more since you don't care, but yeah it's more complicated.

ChatGPT and benchmark sites say the 5060 will perform better than the B580.

"routinely crash"? can you provide evidence? I was reading a pretty thorough benchmark review [techspot.com] and while the 5060 doesn't run everything at 1440p Ultra, it didn't seem to have any trouble at 1080p.

Here are 2. Some games, like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, literally cannot run at 1080p High on the 5060 because of VRAM constraints. Others, like TLoU2 and Doom: The Dark Ages will have severe 1% lows due to VRAM-related FPS drops.

In situations where VRAM isn't a bottleneck the 5060 is the more performant card, but if you're playing VRAM hungry games you're going to have issues, and a 12GB card will have much greater longevity than an 8GB as new games continue to demand more and more VRAM.
