This sort of deal was mentioned for 2024, but I didn't see it recently. To get the cheapest option:
  1. Select a frame from the linked page [payneglasses.com]'s listing
  2. Pick Readers or Distance without other variations on the frame
  3. Add Rx and add your prescription info
  4. Select Clear and Clear lenses
  5. You need to select 1.50 index lenses. This may involved "View all Lens Options" first
  6. Deselect any +$ coatings.
  7. Add to cart
  8. Check out
  9. Scroll down to select Standard Warranty
  10. Fill out the rest of your info to pay $5.95
Tradeoffs
  • No anti-glare or other coatings, though you can keep those on pretty cheap.
  • 1.50 index lenses are best for weaker prescriptions if you need a stronger one, they may get quite chunky
  • The selection of free frames is not super extensive
Edit to note: This post may have overwhelmed the limited stock in some or all of the frames. I also received one report that a strong prescription simply didn't allow the option for 1.50 index frames. If this doesn't work for you, the strong implication is that they will run another such discount on a new set of frames in the future.

I couldnt get the free shipping but I ordered anyways. I figure for ten dollars its nice to have a pair of glasses I dont care about breaking when I get drunk.

After following the steps above, to clarify, $5.95 for shipping has been the only remaining charge for me if I don't add the ~$4 for coating. Cheers!

Any pair I try to add say they're not available.

I tried 10+ frames, but all showed "Product that you are trying to add is not available" at checkout. Did I miss something?

Junk eyewear. Consider them disposable.

Have you handled them in person? If so what was so inferior?

It's $6 for Rx glasses... Were you expecting them to be comparable to $100+ glasses? Obviously not.

For $300 you can get a fancy brand name from your eye doc
