This OMEN 16L pairs an RTX 5060 Ti with the 16GB version of the card, which is the stronger choice for 1440p gaming, higher texture settings, and ray tracing. The compact case runs cooler than larger OMEN towers and the 500W power supply is enough for this build. The main drawbacks are the 16GB of DDR5, 512GB SSD, and limited upgrade headroom, since the small chassis and power supply may constrain future GPU swaps. It is a solidly balanced desktop if you want the stronger graphics tier without moving up to a bigger system.

I built this configuration for $1,111.49. Pretty close to the Costco version, but the RAM is still slower and only 1 year warranty so the Costco version is still the better deal IMHO.

My HP Envy Desktop from Costco throttles the processor by 33% at all times and cannot be unlocked.

Never buying HP again.

My older (2017ish?) Omen allows overclocking from the factory. Omen is a dedicated gaming sub-brand.

How is this compare to the Intel Core Ultra 7 265F one?
Trade-off between higher performance and maximum value.

1. The Performance Difference (Intel Core Ultra 7 265F PC is Stronger)
  • GPU: The RTX 5060 Ti is a significant step up from the RTX 5060 . You get a faster GPU chip and double the VRAM (16GB vs. 8GB). This difference is critical for smooth gaming at higher resolutions (like 1440p) or if you want to use the highest texture settings and Ray Tracing.
  • CPU: The Intel Core Ultra 7 has a higher core count (20 vs. 8), making it better for demanding productivity tasks, video editing, or heavy multitasking while gaming.
2. The Value Factor (AMD Ryzen 7 8700F PC is the Better Deal)
  • Cost Savings: $300 cheaper. That is enough money to buy a high-refresh-rate 1080p monitor, a quality keyboard and mouse, more games, a Switch 2, etc.
  • Performance for the Price: The AMD Ryzen 7 / RTX 5060 combo for $899.99 is an excellent price for a modern gaming PC. It is perfectly capable of high-refresh-rate 1080p gaming on modern AAA titles.
In short: If you are strictly focused on 1080p gaming and saving money, get the Ryzen 7. If you are aiming for 1440p or need the best CPU performance, get the Ultra 7.
I'm still debating myself honestly. Future proofing is always nice for $300 more. I already have an Odyssey G7 monitor from 5 years ago (time flies) so leaning towards the Ultra 7 Costco one.

Why would they pair an awful processor with a beefy video card? My kingdom for a 5060ti, i7 for under $999

I have heard that 14th Gen i7's are still having problems even after several BIOS fixes?
Not the 14400F's. Mostly higher-end K and KF CPUs like 14700K/KF and up.

This is an OK deal. Notably the RAM (slow at 4800) and storage are small for the price. The CPU is alright but it's on a dead platform. The power supply is only enough for this combo so if you get anything higher it will require a replacement, of which I'm not sure will be possible since HP generally uses proprietary stuff and this case seems very compact. Also note there's probably HP bloat on here compared to a smaller brand which will typically only have MoBo/RGB software preinstalled.

I would rather pick up the Ultra 7 deal instead or wait for a better deal. If I'm buying a big brand it needs to be a really good deal to overlook the drawbacks.

I'm debating between these 2, but i'm not a gamer. I'll be using it for trading, using TradingView, ToS, etc... i'm thinking the Ryzen 7 with 5060 is good enough right?

Yep as is it is prob OK, read deeper and You will see I put "future upgrades" in there.
"any future upgrade"

- I assume you mean GPU specifically? It may not be obvious, but this is their super small size, I don't think you could get anything beefier than the 5060 TI in the case, could be wrong. But upgrading the drive and RAM you don't need any more power, I upgraded to 64GB

I had the Omen 35L ( bigger case than these ) w/ the same 8700F and 5060, and it was fine, but I will say the 265F *feels* way snappier in every day productivity and engineering use, though I don't game so ymmv there. But the speed jump is noticeable, I ended up returning the Ryzen one

Wow, that does seem good given the 32GB. Does anyone know what actual differences the 8 vs 16 makes? Does whether it matters depend on the target resolution you want to play at?

This is an ok deal. It's 16GB more DDR5 than what best buy is offering at a similar price but this URL below will you get you an i7 upgrade and if you're hard up for cash, Best Buy will offer 24 months 0% financing on their card but you will lose out on the immediate 16GB of additional DDR5 ram that Costco is offering here.
