Merrell Moab 3 Mid Waterproof boots are a familiar hiking boot with a roomy fit, sturdy feel, and strong mileage for some wearers, including pairs that have gone 200 miles and kept performing well. The wide sizing is especially useful for hard to fit feet, and the brand still has a solid reputation for trail use. The main cautions are durability and waterproofing, with reports of leaking, sole separation, and even discomfort after heavy use. Stock and sizes are also thin, and the promo code is not working for some listings.

  • The boots can handle extended hiking mileage and still feel excellent after about 200 miles of use.

    chbipp

  • Some buyers report the Moab 3 fits wide feet better than other waterproof hiking boot options.

    pinkblack

  • The deal may include both waterproof and non-waterproof versions, which can help match different needs.

    greyster

  • Some experiences describe the Moab 3 as sturdy enough for long-term ownership and continued repurchase.

    SeanD1497

  • The waterproofing can fail after a few months, with leaks reportedly coming from sealant areas.

    zhaofeibob151

  • Soles can separate quickly, with reports of soles falling off after roughly four wears.

    newenglanda1

  • The boots may not live up to "waterproof" expectations and are better described as water resistant.

    pinkblack

  • The promo code may not work and available sizes can be very limited, making checkout harder.

And the reviews talk about the steel toe feature and color 'Coyote" and things that do not exist in the Merrell listing and color options for this particular shoe make. The long detailed reviews seem to be about other shoes.

Does anyone know how this compares to the recent deal for adidas men Terrex Free Hiker 2.0 Gore-Tex Hiking Shoes for $80?

Adidas is better. I used to be a Moab fan for years and had tons of Moab 1/2/3.. Then for the most recent purchases, the boots started leaking water after a few months usage. I always bought the gore-Tex version. Three different boots all leaked somewhere from the sealant part. After that I gave up and switched to Terrex, so far so good.

Adidas deal is gone, however. Kicking myself for hitting the snooze on that deal.

That is some disappointing news. Mine leaked too, but I had the non-goretex model and I just figured it was the lower grade waterproofing.

Good price on these. I would consider $100 the normal sale price. Fewer and fewer good hiking boot deals it seems.

Check Marshall's before you buy directly. I was able to save a lot on the 5 pairs I own.

Thanks, good deals, if not near all-time low territory.
I don't worry about reviews for these because I've owned several pairs that have been fantastic, and a lot of people in my industry swear by them. Until they let me down, I'll keep buying more when they wear out.

just a heads up, i wouldn't stock up on shoes, keep it to like 3-4. I used to horde when i found a deal, but the truth is the glue in shoes starts going bad after about 5 years. Most the time shoes that are on deal are at least a year or two old. Then peole leave them in their closest etc for years and pull them out and not long after using, the sole separates.

You're fortunate, I haven't seen Merrill at the marshals near me for over a decade.
