AirPods Pro 3 are landing as a modest upgrade over Pro 2, with the biggest draw being stronger active noise cancellation and a better fit for moving around. The new Apple Translate feature is the main extra, but it also works on AirPods Pro 2, which makes the older model look like the better value for many. Warranty and AppleCare coverage come up often, along with reminders that Best Buy and Costco perks can matter as much as the sticker price. A few reports also flag comfort, battery life, and case quality concerns on Pro 3, so the appeal depends on how much you want the newest version.
buyers who specifically want Apple's Translate feature because commenters noted the AI/Apple Translate feature is available on AirPods Pro 2 as well, so the Pro 3 is mainly worth it if you need that capability.
everyday AirPods Pro users who care about stronger ANC and better fit while moving around because one commenter said the Pro 3's ANC is much better and the fit is better when they're active.
people trying to minimize the total out-the-door cost by stacking delivery and card promos because one buyer said they got them to about $170 delivered by combining Best Buy sale pricing with Uber Eats delivery/tip and AMEX Platinum Uber credits plus Costco gift card math.
shoppers who want an easy, fast checkout for multiple pairs because one commenter said ordering a 2-pack via e-gift cards delivered the email codes within about 5 minutes.
people who are expecting a big upgrade over AirPods Pro 2 because multiple commenters said it doesn't seem like a big upgrade versus Pro 2 and that the only meaningful new feature is Translate (so they'd rather save the money).
buyers who are sensitive to comfort and battery life because one commenter said AirPods Pro 3 felt less comfortable, had worse battery life (24h vs 30h with the case), and even had an extreme high-pitched ANC whistle issue that they didn't have on their Pro 2s.
Best Buy members who want points/price-match credit because one commenter warned that ordering through UberEats won't credit the order to your Best Buy member ID and prevents price matches/points from counting.
people who don't want to deal with return-policy uncertainty because one buyer said they bought from Apple at full price with engraving and is now wondering whether they can return them after not doing due diligence.
Best Buy and Amazon are both tied to the $219.99 sale price, and Best Buy has also matched Amazon and Walmart at $199 in-store. Uber Eats can stack a $15 Best Buy promo plus other credits, which can bring the delivered total down further.
The main new feature called out is Apple Translate, and that feature also works with AirPods Pro 2. AirPods Pro 3 is described as a modest upgrade at best, so Pro 2 can be the better value if you do not need the newer hardware changes.
AppleCare is worth considering because the first year is covered under warranty and Apple will repair or replace them for free. That matters more if you expect heavy use or have had repeated replacements before.
Some find AirPods Pro 3 more comfortable with better ANC, bass, spatial audio, and fit while moving around. Others report the opposite: less comfort, no meaningful ANC or sound improvement, a larger cheaper-feeling case, and a high-pitched ANC whistle.
Ordering through Uber Eats does not credit the purchase to your Best Buy member ID, so points and member rewards may not count. Price matches also cannot be done on those orders.
I suppose there could be a late push by Apple that could lower the price further but I doubt it. I'm guessing this is as good of a price (without going through a deal with lots of bells and whistles) as there will be.
Obligatory "better deal at Costco if you planned on buying AppleCare+"
Seems like a no brainer. I had to have my pro 2's replaced several times in the first year of owning them. Can't imagine owning them without apple care.
Is it worth upgrading to the Pro 3? I bought the Black Friday Pro 2 and this would be about a $90 upgrade. Worth it? Or just keep the Pro 2s and wait till they give out to upgrade and maybe the price on these will be down in a year or so?

Pro 2 is pretty good. I found that Apple translate to be one new feature. Unless you need it, just stick with pro 2 and spend the $90 on something else.

The AI translate feature also works with AirPods Pro 2. 🙂
These things are dropping in price so fast. I bought the Pro 2 for $180 almost two years ago, we'll probably see that price for the Pro 3 in another few weeks at this pace.

Thank you so much!
