I have quite a few (10+) Sabrent enclosures for my NVMEs that I use daily. I have put hundreds if not thousdands of terabytes of reads and writes thru these enclosures without a single failure. Which is more than I can say about the Orico ones I purchased originally that I had at least 3 or 4 enclosures fail.

I second this. My Sabrent nvme enclosure has worked with off-brand nvme drives when other enclosures failed. I use mine constantly and the toolless design is really convenient. I probably wouldn't try to use it for heavy constant use because it can heat up, but when I need to attach an nvme drive to my computer to partition it or transfer files, this one is my favorite.

I wonder why they changed the design. It does look sleeker but now it's not stackable

Bought two of these the other day. One is constantly disconnecting and I haven't tried the other yet. I tried a different enclosure with the same nvme and it's working, so maybe I just got a bad enclosure. Going to try the second one tonight and see if it's any better.

Yeah, the old design has been flawless. The Orico was finicky, but I flashed the firmware on both enclosures and they they have been fine since. The clam shell design is much more convenient.

I had this, and I sent it back. I was using it to connect an M.2 SSD to my Netgear router in order to use my router as a NAS. When it would go to sleep, it woulnd't wake back up. I'd have to disconnect and reconnect it before my devices could find it on the network. I ended up getting a standard SSD and haven't had any problems.

If I wanted to clone a drive, would this enclosure work well for the transfer destination drive?

I have several of the older model using the RLT9210B chipset that have been great for the past few years. The older model is more expensive ~$22-25 but supports both NVME and SATA. For the price, it's worth a shot, and hopefully it'll have a common chipset that works well.
