A friend of mine had this style at her house, it works similar to an external dispenser where you push you glass against it, but you get to look like an idiot holding the door open for an extended period of time. It's not a great design from an energy efficiency standpoint.

Most of the items that qualify for spend and save are over $200, but there's a Danby mini fridge for $199 so at the very least you could add that fridge and get $200 off. Free mini fridge with the purchase of a full size fridge lol.

Ever hear of thermal mass? The minute you have the door open has no tangible effect as it's only the air. If you think otherwise.. you are really going to hate the reality of food shopping... in your cart, in your trunk... on your counter...then in your fridge.

Yes everyone is aware of thermal mass, but opening the door to your fridge and holding it open every time you need a drink of water adds up. Its no coincidence that the compressor kicks on every time you shut the door afterwards where with any other design it wouldnt need to.

This was cheaper 2-3 weeks ago when it was listed for $1499. Costco has a $200 discount for appliances $1499-$1999. So this would have came out to $1299 plus tax. I ended up getting the LG French Door 31.7 Cubic inch for the same price plus it came with a free LG mini fridge that retails for $389.

I have this at home and here's my take.
This model saves the space behind the left refrigerator door. On a typical French style refrigerator, this space is occupied by the water/ice dispensing unit. On this model though, the space is freed up to let you refrigerate more stuff. We use this space to host 4 gallons of milk, butter and cheeses.
But do you really save this space? Well, an almost equal volume of space is occupied by the ice tray in the freezer section - see the pics posted on the product page. You can turn off ice, take out the tray and reclaim the space though.
So you're essentially trading off space in the freezer section for space in the refrigerator section.
There is also the convenience you lose from an external water/ice dispenser.
Further, the water dispensing in this model needs you to press a small button with one hand, while holding a glass with another. I was also shipped an older model which has a small square shaped button, instead of the round (soft looking?) button in the product page pics.
If you have kids, or elderly at home, my advice would be to get a refrigerator with external water/ice dispenser.

I also have this fridge. While I did think you could push a glass against it to dispense prior to getting it, I liked the internal water because it's less likely to break than external. Since it's not within a moving part, it's really only the filter, the water hookup, or the button.

That said, I did have some weird issues with both the filter and the stuff in the fridge freezing solid if I put a pizza box in there or filled the main shelf too much, which hasn't happened with other fridges I've owned. Additionally, it's soft close unless your kid leaves a drawer slightly ajar, in which case, the drawer lid cracks.

Well that sounds like a good trade off for someone requiring 4 GALLONS OF MILK at once. Lol.
