Thanks OP.. Almost pulled the trigger as I was trying to revive my old Onkyo on and off today, and already lost hope.
It might be old, but it sat in storage for like 10 years before I hooked it up to my TV 2 years ago.
Not everybody needs a $1000 receiver.
On 5th+ try, after heating up my DSP chip (apparently common problem with received from 10+ years ago) to 700F (beyond googled recommendations) My Onkyo finally recovered. Yay $200 saved.
