Fine for most Christmas light applications, but this isn't "heavy duty".

Said multiple times, but worth repeating. 16/3 and heavy duty do not go in the same sentence. Unless it includes IS NOT.

That's 1625W at 125V. Note, most homes run around 119-122V. You'll probably only be able to get 1550W or so through one of these without exceeding the design limits.

Came here to say that. I'd be very careful using 16 gauge to power more than very low draw. I personally would avoid it for anything and spend a few bucks more for safety.

I've used a corded circular saw with the same rated extension cord, also 20 or 25 ft length. It was fine for that anyway.

Remember, the lower the AWG number the heavier duty it is. 16/3 is basic, not suitable for anything power hungry like a mower or snowblower.

Its good for lawn decorations and hedge trimmers or electric drill only. So what happens when you plug your mower snowthrower stronger saw pressure washer into this? The power draw thru these thin wires inside heats them. They could melt and short and trip your circuit breaker or make a fire occasionally. What you might not know these drop the voltage in your power hungry tools and the motor struggles. Yes I've had the motors under full load overheat and burnout. Gee why do I keep burning out my items, they must be no good. These darn chinese chainsaws. Ignore the teaching it won't cost us a penny for your losses. One a side note wow since around the covid times copper wire was crazy priced now back down. Ram memory for computers now crazy high.

Ohh, they didn't mean heavy duty for electrical capacity, they just meant it is physically heavy duty 😄🤔

I have a lot of old 16/3 extension cords before I knew better and they are highly annoying because they rely on me the user to know the safe applications. I like 50 ft 14/3 which is a good for basically everything and if I go end to end to extend to 100 ft that's a good mental cue to ensure I'm not going to have voltage drop issues. Then I'll dig out the big and heavy 12/3 100 ft cable that usually collects dust.

The big problem with using a power tools with a strong draw on a thin cord is that you damage the power tool, so part of me wants to ask how much did you use that circular saw and is it still working?

though it is possible to use the lower amperage saw like a 7.5 amp saw and be fine

Maybe the marketing bro is on 220V in Europe. In which case, 16a/220V would be heavy duty. Nothing wrong with pulling 30amps on a 16awg though... It doubles as a heat strip : )

Well, considering what most people are using these for this time of year (Christmas lights) it works!
