Affirmative, and thank you. I was under the impression that the battery could not be removed like PC laptop. Interesting.It unfortunate that the recommendation of yours does not get 512GB of storage. 256GB is too small for my use case

The 256gb model is better value, and you can upgrade the storage after market. 190USD for 256g is half way to 2tb.

The Air only has 256gb at that price point. You can get the Mini for less than this, but this listing has 512gb which adds to the cost in the same way that the Air you're referencing is $950 with the extra memory.

True, but Apple does make it a difficult choice since the 256 Drive has no cache, so not just smaller, but slower too. Thanks, Apple.

I'm not saying to go with 512gb on the Air. I am saying if you are spending $700 then go with the base MacBook Air "13 M4. If you really need extra storage. Portable SSD is the cost effective route.
